I'm pretty sure Insua would stay if hodgeson wants him to. It's puzzling why we're selling a LB when we don't even have a proper one now (minus sicknote aurelio)

I would be happy for him to stay. He's not world class but at least he was good enough to be called up for argentina squad earlier in the year.

In fact, I think he could improve lots as he's still young. Under proper guidance from RH could benefit him much.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are he is woeful and belongs in the championship, i would have most LB in the premiership over him, he cost us a bucketload of matches last year including our passage into the group stages of the CL. The reason he made the Argies team was because fatman diego is a tool. Goodbye insua

i would be quite happy with insua for the time being.

Hes been getting better and better and i think with Poulson or Masch playing defensive mid hell be fine ...

I dont see a point ins pending small money on a new LB if we sell him and then club sale foes through and we got plenty of money for january transfers.

Lets just wait and see what happens and see how much money we got in january ... (if the club isnt sold before end of august)

Wilson cant play LB and Agger is much better used at CB instead of Skittle.

Insua has never looked good enough. He hasn't shown any marked improvement and has probably peaked already. The money can be better utilised elsewhere.

I don't want to enter into the argument about Insua, but I think we can assume that he is surplus to requirements from the fact that Liverpool agreed to sell him to Fiorentina. Genoa will be flush with selling this guy Sculli to Inter ( who in tarnation is he ?? ) and I think Insua will have got the message that he does not figure in Roy's plans.

One snag - Emiliano is a home grown player. And his exit would leave us with one specialised left back who is a little injury prone. I doubt whether Mavinga is ready yet. Roy is rumoured to be interested in Konchesky, who has loads of experience, probably past his best, not expensive, And British.

An alternative is Stephen Warnock.
