So Brad is a confirmed deal. Why would he want to join as a reserve keeper when he is No.1 at Boro? I know Reina has stated he is staying and has a long contract but I am worried that LFC intend to cash in on him. Surely not.....

Hes wanted by Roy for the home grown rule and the reason hes coming would be money because it aint to play football

Maybe Cavlieri is on his way !?!?! Think it is the home-grown rule and a cheap way of making up the numbers. Plus the keeper trainers at LFC are (before they got the axe) fantastic.

They could make me into a keeper. .. well almost.. ;-)

I don't think that the signing of Brad Jones is a precursor to the departure of Reina. Pepe is Liverpool through and through and one of the best keepers in the world.

Any team has to have an understudy to cover the possibility of the regular No 1 being injured or sent off. This demands a goalkeeper who will be satisfied with the occasional Carling Cup or reserve team outing. Not all keepers would be comfortable with that ; they would want to play. The classic example was Ven der Gouw for Manchester United who hardly ever played, no doubt drew a not insubstantial salary and kept his mouth shut.

But it's no different to the theatre. They have understudies there too.

Liverpool now have on their books : Pepe, Brad Jones, Cavalieri,
Peter Gulacsi, Martin Hansen, Dean Bouzanis and - get ready - Charles Itandje. I think he's still on the books for one more year. Enough said.

How many goalkeepers do we want ? Do we know on the grapevine that some club is interested in one of our present keepers ?
Will cavalieri go out on loan ? You tell me.

The first team isn't good enough and that's where the money should have been spent. I disagree with you as I think that Jones is far better back up than what we have and with the guy's scouse heritage I am sure that there is a lot more in this than money. I for one will look forward to see him getting his chance in some of the cup comps and good luck to you Brad I wish you well!

this money needed to be spent, we desperately needed a backup keeper. no point spending it all on the first team. if reina gets inured we are up the swanny. those other two idiots are useless.

He has a deep scouse heritage, he qualifies for the home grown rule, he's older and more experienced then Gulacsi, Hansen and Bouzanis, and Cavalieri has been sold. That leaves us with......

Pepe
Jones
Hansen
Gulacsi
Bouzanis

You can't include Charles Itandje as he will never play for us again, whether on the books or not, so to say it is a waste of moeny is rather baffling. We now have a good back up for Pepe that qualifies as a home grown product which means we can have one more non home grown player out on the field.

And as far as why he has signed with Liverpool, I can tell you if I was him with his heritage and being a fan, I would jump at the chance to play for Liverpool, even if it was only a couple of games a year. Lets face it, he was with Boro!

Regardless of fans' opinions, I would still wish Brad Jones all the best during his times with the Liverpool FC.

Good luck!
