Have we gone insane again? What do we need him for? We've got good cover with Cavalieri, Gulacsi, Bouzanis etc. The £2.5m we'll be spending on him could be used for a forward which is what we're lacking. Another goalie is the least of our problems.
Its part of the need to meet our home grown quota of players... a move like this is extremely sensible (i'd think we'd get atleast 3m for Cavalieri) and leaves us with more possibilities to bring in other foreign signings.
Gerrard, Carragher, Pacheco, Spearing, Kelly, Ayala, Gulacsi, Insua (if he stays) are just some of the names who count as homegrown so that's not a problem either. Cavalieri's staying so this transfer is bizarre.
Pacheco is 19, Kelly is 20, Ayala is 19, Gulácsi is 20. All to young to count as home grown and not included in the 25 man squad as you have to be over 21 to count towards it.
