A Liverpool supporters coalition will meet with the Chinese consortium bidding to own the club, it has emerged.
SOS-SL, a merger between Spirit of Shankly and ShareLiverpoolFC, claim that a spokesman of the group being representated by Kenny Huang has informed them that they plan to hold talks with fan groups if their bid is accepted by Reds chairman Martin Broughton.
Both Spirit of Shankly and ShareLiverpool have fiercely opposed George Gillett and Tom Hicks' reign at Anfield, which has seen Liverpool engulfed in debts of over £351million, and have been approached by the group who claim that fans are key in taking the club forward.
“If developments with the club go forward positively, naturally we will be coming to Liverpool," a spokesman told the group.
"If and when we do, we pledge to meet with SOS-SL, and other supporter representatives, such as the Official Supporters' Clubs, because we recognise that Liverpool supporters are key stakeholders in this club.
"We have an open mind about how things might move forward but we are very much prepared to meet for a detailed discussion, without prejudice. They are critical to our approach to the whole deal.”
Huang's bid remains the firm favourite amongst fans, with pledges to deny Gillett and Hicks a healthy profit for their three-and-a-half-year investment whilst making Liverpool one of the most financially-powerful clubs in the world but chairman Martin Broughton and the Anfield board.
The coalition have indicated that none of the five other potential investors have made any attempts to contact them and welcomed the Chinese approach and hope that it will pave the way for dialogue with the club's would-be owners on supporter issues.
A spokesman said: “It is significant that we’re hearing directly from representatives of the China bid and we cautiously welcome it.
"We have a very clearly defined agenda and would be happy to meet and discuss our aims in detail with them. Of course, we do not, and would not, endorse any particular bid without detailed discussions and negotiation.
"SOS-SL has over 50,000, members, registrants and supporters. In the event of new ownership at Liverpool FC, SOS-SL is committed to representing the best interests of supporters, and seeking a minority partnership by taking equity in the club.
"They expect to raise £50million+ from individual fans in a ‘one fan: one share’ issue but those numbers could surge dramatically as events move forward."
Meanwhile Syrian businessman Yahya Kirdi is hopeful that he will have a deal for the club completed before Liverpool's opening Premier League fixture with Arsenal this Sunday and has pledged to build a new stadium in Stanley Park as well as paying down the club's debts.
