We had many problems last year. but i think the lack of creativity, width, a cover for Torres and Rafa were the main ones.

I would like to see masch go and the money from him be offered to city
for Wayne bridge and adebayor I know his temperament is questionable
but he is a proven goalscorer in the pl and he would be a reasonable price
as city want to offload him also bring in poulsen to free stevie and cole up a bit

reina
Johnson carragher agger bridge
cole Gerrard poulsen jovanovic
adebayor torres

would be a nice squad with quality replacement
kuyt rodriguez babel skrtel Lucas aqua Wilson and Kelly as well as others

I'm seeing some crazy predictions for this seasons starting eleven on other sites. Here is what I think would be a realistic line up:

Reina

Johnson Carragher Agger Aurelio

Poulsen

Cole Gerrard Turan

Remy Torres

I don't think Roy will want to sign a new LB now that Insua and Auelio are staying. Poulsen looks like he is signing. I think Roy might bring in a winger (I'm hoping for Turan) and possibly a striker, maybe someone like Remy.

That would be realistic and in my opinion sweet! I think this LB madness has been overdone, we're good there with a number of players we have. Strikers for me.

a bit problem last year was lack of goals drawing and even loosing to smaller teams, how are we going to get goals within more defenders, we need more attackers to bad us the goals when we need them most

Completely agree, it is making chances and finishing them that is the area of concern that needs to be addressed. And another striker who can finish well to bring on when we need a goal to go up top with Torres or replace him when hes injured is what we need.

Or primary problem last season was too many players who didn't have their head in the game, especially Stevie G. Nando playing half a season didn't help, and all the injuries to the back 4 in the first half of the season got us off on the wrong foot. Rafa then persisted with the Masch/Lucas nonbo ('non-combo') instead of moving Stevie back to CM (which it seems Hodgson will do).

This season we still have the same squad (except perhaps Masch, but he's not out the door yet), we have a better vibe inthe squad, and our manager is buying experienced cover at DM (Poulson) and youth cover at DM (Wilson - I read somewhere he can play LB as well). We've added Cole and Jovanovic, so anyone saying we need to strengthen our attack doesn't know where these guys play. Also let's not forget Aquilani and Maxi (and those guys everyone loves to hate Kuyt and Babel). The Liverpool first 11 is not weak; we came second with 86 points with an identical team barring Alonso and Arbeloa, so now that Cole allows us to fill the Alonso hole and Kelly/Insua/Aurelio should be enough for LB, why can we not press for silverware as we stand?

How do we buy a striker anyway? If you were worth a penny would you want to sit on the bench hoping Nando gets injured while everyone else in the stands hopes you never get on the pitch? We can only get a winger who can play the striker role, but since we actually have several wide players now who would want to sit behind them *and* Torres in the pecking order? It's not that there are no players we could buy, even with a limited budget, more that our starting 11 is tough to break into. And if our starting 11 is now tough to break into, then one need look no further than the starting 11 for an explanation for poor results.

I agree with Hodgson. If we fail to get results we deserve, the guys on the park need to look at themselves in the mirror and ask why they weren't good enough on the day. We have the team, we have the squad, we have the drive and the motivation. All we need to do now is put the pieces together and get out there and start playing.
