25 games unbeaten without him in the side says it all. Like I said, you could play Carra back in his old dm position and you wouldn't notice much difference in terms of team performance - that's how expendable Mascherano is.

I remember last season he did an interview with ESPN before a game and said he would do anything for liverpool and the fans, Nice to know that was b*llocks.

Mascherano is the type of player you need when you play 3 defenders.

If you ask me, he should never have played in 90% of our home games. At home we should have an attacking formation not a defensive minded one.

Mash great player in his position but he's not what wins leagues. Thanks for service but he wants away and that leaves a bad taste. Reds rescued him from reserve training but he's full of it. Seems grass in greener for most Argies, Tevez, Veron, Mash, Insua all players that instigated issues and moves. Cheerio Mash!

He is a world class player and one the best we have had in that postion. But...

Mascherano is world class at what he does but that is it. All he does is break up play, if I could have mascherano or hamann I'd take didi all day. Whilst didi hadn't had the speed of masch he certainly made up for it in his positioning and game awareness. He also nipped in with a few goals per season and I no you can put it the amount of times both players have broke up play which we've launched into attacks but (and I've just done my research on this) coming from his right foot mascherano has only made 4 assists, yes, 4 assists since we signed him in 2006. Now for me that is absolutely poor from a player who's natural job as a player playing in the centre of midfield is to provide the front line with goals. He's at the heart of the engine room an it's not good enough to be in the team to break up the play, you've got to have more than that and he simply doesn't have it in his locker to pick out a eye spliting pass

Cannot believe some of the drivel i have just read. Masch is a top top player. This rubbish about anyone could do his job, he is easily replaceable is absolutely laughable and ridiculous. You look at the second half of last season, particularly if you were at the game he is one of the best in the world at what he does. Provides excellent cover, allows others to get forward, rarely looses the ball. OP is an absolute joker to think otherwise. You sound like you've been dumped and now making up stuff cause your bitter. He needs to go cause he doesn't want to be here, that is not what we need in the dressing room. But when he does go, you watch, we will miss him unless we get another top 5 defensive mid in the world.
