it was nice to watch us playing good football and we were completely in charge, and i know the opposition were poor, but you can only beat whats in front of you. i even have most of my fingernails left. Cole was superb and the rest of the team looked comfortable and played with smiles on their faces. very nice change.

This is more like it, a bit of positivity.!! OK weak opponents but the basics were done very well last night, moved the ball well when in possesion and quickly got it back when we lost it. Thought we had lost the Lucas haters for a while there reading through the thread but I see one or two still appeared, Trust me the guy will become a major player for us this year if given the chance. Ngogg is very frustrating to watch as his ball control at times is shocking but it encourages me that the lad always seems to find himself in the right positions (maybe by chance, at present his killer instict to attack the ball is still lacking but with a bit more encouragement and confidence will see this bot turn good over the next year. Cole and Jovanivic were excellent on debut and the rest did all that was expected apart perhaps from Pacheco who I think was trying too hard.

I thought the lads played well enough yesterday and looked like they were enjoying themselves but we should have scored at least two more.
How many golden chances does Ngog waste? Answer, most of them. The team behind him are setting him up over and over again and he's missing the target, miscontrolling or running the ball into blind alleys when he should be through on goal. I'm all for giving him a chance but he cost us many many points last season by being, well, not good enough to score most of the gilt-edged chances that were presented to him.
The one he did get last night was a free header sitter and he'll never get that sort of space for in the PL. Even then he stuck it in off the underside of the bar. Almost another one missed. Hopefully we'll get a better striker in before the window closes so we have better cover for Torres. Nothing against Ngog the person but he's costing us too often in games.
I though Pacheco played well and looks like a star in the making - very hard to get the ball off. I hope he gets the games to prove himself.
Joe Cole too was great, even coming back to defend with great effect. The fans will love you for that Joe. He also has that fearlessness that we lacked so badly last season. I pray he stays fit as he'll give the team great confidence all round.
Now it's fingers crossed Torres is fit for Arsenal and we should give them a game.

didnt you get that sense from the team that a weight had been lifted. everyone seemed to have more freedom to express themselves, take a chance, be adventurous. bring back luis. You're definitely right on the money about the team having their weights lifted off their shoulders and played with new found abundance of freedom. Hopefully, this should spell a good omen for the rest of the season

I have to agree Ngog certainly not good enough for our team, and neither is Lucas. He is far to slow to pass the ball, always takes 3 or 4 touches and then the opposition have got into position. And i also reckon Aqua is a good player. Don't forget he has had a really bad injury and of course with being a foreign player needed time to settle. How long has Lucas been here? and he is still as bad as the first time he pulled on a shirt. If we are to win anything we need to replace players like Ngog and Lucas with quality cos Im afraid these lads haven't got it.

i enjoyed watching the game last night. the team did really well. for me the man of the match was cole. Jovanivic did well but am thinking his going to be a slightly quicker version of kuyt. i would have rather seem him play as a striker. for my liking ngog misses too many chances. kelly had a excellent game is well
