Thats a bit harsh! There were loads of senior players that didnt deliver last season plus the fact he was the only fit left back for the majority of the season meaning that when he should have been taken out the spotlight at times last season that wasnt possible.
If he moves on then lets wish all the best for the rest of his career if not then lets get behind the lad and support him not get on his back.
if negotiations with fiorentina have broken down then surely he was demanding more money than what the club thought he was worth.
if thats the case, spotlight or no spotlight he must think he's better than what he actually is.
he might become a decent player in a good few years down the line but it wont happen overnight and do the club in a crucial season such as this to go and improve on what happened last year, have the time to waste on him when he could be replaced by someone who is far superior and proven at around the same fee?
imo at the moment he's a poor player, not even mediocre.
