I agree that gerrard etc are the last ones who came through, but, we have had players that have come in an where simply not good enough, neil mellor for instance he couldn't cut it at this level. Little jay spearing had a fair few chances, notably against Leeds and against sunderland, I no it's only two games but you can learn alot about a player to no wether they've got more positives than negatives in there game. I'd like to see Kelly pacheco get maybe 15-20 appearences this season.

Neil Mellor! I forgot about him, jesus he was poop! Very bad example of bringing players through! Killed my whole arguement!

As for Spearing I have to confess Im not at all convinced and I think if I get the home grown thing he will count as one of the 25 this year as he is 21 and has been with us for 3 years.

In general though I think your always going to have more failures than successes at LFC simply coz the standards is so high.

Still our recent track record has been not to try them unless it absolutely essential. Before that wernt the case, the players were given a shot and wernt a last resort option. The kind of policy we had recently can not be good for confidence.

I would love to see Kelly, Pach, Shelvey, Wilson given decent chances this year. Ayala too.

I can remember owen being brought on because robbie was injured an we where short of strikers, same for gerrard he got his chance cus we wer struggling at right back. When there chance came they took it.

Pacheco, Kelly, gerrard, carragher, cole, johnson, darby. Ayala would they be are homegrown players?

If its not a change in policy or stance as to when to use young players what accounts for not bringing any through in the last 10 years?

If i get the rules correctly only players 21 and over are counted as part of the 25 man squad, you can have as many under 21's as you like. For that reason I think our home grown players would be Gerrard, Carra, Cole, Johnson, Darby definitely and I think Spearing and Nemeth to. Not that they'll all be in our squad.

Pach, Kelly, Ayala and co will count as homegrown players if they stay with us until their 21. In fact if Ive got it right you dont have to stay with the same club you just have to be in an English or Welsh FA team between the ages of 16-21 for three years to count as home grown.
