But cole gerrard and torres and carragher need games to be sharp, playing just a Saturday or Sunday isn't enough for them. Especially if they have a bad game, they want a game soon as possible to get it right. Do you not think also, an I will say it again, that pacheco would benefit from playing with torres , Wilson with carragher, shelvey with gerrard?

the youngsters would benefit from playing with they're world class counterparts but gerrard, torres, etc don't need to be playing twice a week nice hard training and playing just once a week they would be so good

Nonsense, people always say that until we get knocked out and then will batter the manager with it.

We've got a young team anyway, we need to use the youngsters sensibly bringing them on properly so that next season they'll play even more games and get better.

Getting knocked out in the second round of any competition will do no one any good, not the youngsters who will only play 2 games anyway or the club.

We need to win silverware this year and I'm not too bothered what it is.

a mixture of youth and experience depending on certain players fitness at the time should see us through to the later stages.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

are you talking crap, how do expect them to hit the ground running an to gain any sort of confidence to get to top form, plus how do you expect them to get to be sharp and fully match fit? Nice hard training during the week is nothing compared to a competitive match. I'm not saying play them twice every week but I'd say 80% of the time you need your world class players playing. Plus where in the competition to win it so imo in the group stage of the Europa league start with the likes of gerrard, torres an when we qualify for the next round with games to spare then you can give them a rest

Like I said I agree to an extent, I just don't think it would benefit the team aswell as themselves if they where just used for the prem. I'm all one for resting players to keep them fresh. I no who I would rather play with if given the chance, not Lucas but gerrard .

emp is right the europa league is bullsh!t and we should put all our eggs in the PL basket simple as and our youngsters are brilliant and they'd all be buzzing and give 110% on a thursday and a nice fresh first team for sunday would work a dream.. managers always talk about fitness towards the end of the season that wouldn't be an issue for us meaning we could maintain top form for longer out lasting the teams in the real european competition it's a no brainer stevie and nando playing sunday to sunday would be devastating 25 goals + each

A lot of you are forgetting that the Europa League isn't the only competition where the youths can play. There's also the Carling Cup and the FA Cup in the earlier phases. If we ever face a good team then we can blend a team of youths and counterparts for our upcoming talent. At least that way the big players play regularly and the youth do also. Also to be fair I'd have to agree about the point of the big players wanting to play as many games as possible, it gives you more confidence and you'd want to get yourself into form.

Yes as we can see against Borrusia today we have lots of youngsters with potential but they have to be blooded carefully and blended in with more experienced players. Otherwise we'll simply get knocked out of these competitions very early reducing their chances to play.
