Goal Keepers:
Reina
Calvieri
Itandje

Defenders:
Johnson HG*
Right Back?
Carragher HG*
Agger
Skrtel
Kyrgiakos
Left Back?
Left Back?
Midfielders:
Babel
Maxi Rodriguez
Gerrard HG*
Lucas
Cole HG*
Aquilani
Spearing HG*
Kuyt

Strikers:
Torres
Ngog
Jovanovic

U21 (do not need to be registered)
Gulasci
Wilson
Spearing
Nemeth
Shelvey
Ayala
Dalle Valle
Eccleston
Amoo
Pacheco
Darby
Kelly etc...

Now we have a total of 19 Senior Players some of these could still make an exit and i haven't included El Zhar, Plessis, Degen, Insua or Mascherano for obvious reasons.

5 of those players are classed as Home Grown*

This leaves us with 3 places for new players all of which HAVE to be classed as Home Grown.

Now the questions i wanna ask are:
Can players under the age of 21 that are classed as Home Grown still be registered in the 25 man squad even though they don't have to be registered?

Do players from other countries in Britain such as Danny Wilson count as Home Grown?

How long does it take before a player can gain British Citizenship? Almunia could play for England because he has been here for a certain amount of time and hasn't played for Spain at international level. If a player is classed as a British Citizen is he also classed as Home Grown?

Just been thinking about this over the last 15mins and trying to work it all out. Hopefully it can help us work out more realistic transfer targets too. For example, Petrov has played in Britain since 1999 he joined Celtic then signed for Aston Villa in 2006. Surely this would class him as a Home Grown player?

if a foreign player over the age of 21 has been in the country 3 years before the age of 21 he is classed as a home grown player... I think, hope it helps mate smile

Just found this on the bbc sport website, still doesn't answer some of my questions though

- Clubs register a squad of up to 25 players, which must include at least eight 'home-grown' players, at the end of each transfer window.

- Home-grown players do not have to be English; home-grown players are defined as those who "irrespective of nationality or age, have been affiliated to the FA or Welsh FA for a period of three seasons or 36 months prior to 21st birthday"

- Clubs can supplement squad with unlimited number of players under the age of 21.

- Changes can be made only during transfer windows, although in exceptional circumstances (eg goalkeeping injury crisis) moves could be allowed.

- Players loaned to Football League clubs cannot be replaced, but can regain their spot on return to parent club.

- Rules apply only to Premier League matches, not European, FA Cup or League Cup action.

- First deadline is 1700 BST on 1 September
(24 hours after end of August transfer window).

gulasci's first season was on loan but im pretty sure it counts. yea thats the good thing about the foreign lads like pacheco etc when they hit 22 theyll be classed as home grown too, thats how arsenal are getting away with it cos they have such a young side every year.

the interest in david luiz is incredible and the money benfica are demanding for him is completley outrageous, they want like £30m+ for him. ridiculous.

id grab o'hara if he was cheap, deffo go for defour looks like united are gonna get him though. id try and grab arda too :p

O'Hara would be a great signing. He did well with pompey when he was on loan.
