Apparently West Ham are looking for something stupid like 20m, which is ridiculous. Defour would be about 12-13m but old red nose has been smooching him for ages so he will probably go the scum.

Got a few friends who are west ham fans and they all say that some of the things he does on the pitch are close to GBH. The reason he didnt go to the World Cup is because of this.

Sami Khadira had a good tourney too. young ambitious, has the size for the league and the hunger.

I like Scotty parker and think he is talented but he gets injured fairly often too because of this style of play.

How about Barcelona's Rafael Marquez. Experienced, cheap, versatile and could do a decent short-term job. Ajax's Jan Vertonghen (spelling) is another good option. Similar to Vermaelen but will be more expensive but will do a job in the long-term as well as being able to play centre-back too. This could free up funds for a left-back as well as attacking players like Turan and another striker.

id welcome marquez, experienced captain material player. those kind of players win you games. i'm not too sure when his contract expires but i wouldnt have thought he had alot of time left at barca. only problem is they just sold yaya toure so who is going to step in if they have to balance their books this season.



anyway just read an article in the news section thought id post it on here. john aldridge makes a very interesting point about rafa and mascherano.

what about scharner. Obviously not needed every game as there is better players but if were lookin for someone to sit infront of the centre backs when the full backs are bombing forward as a safety assurance. He's on a free an if Roy thinks he could do a job until we get took over then am all for it

id take scharner any day of the week, not many people agree with me though. hes experienced and hes been a very important player for wigan over the years 150 odd premiership games. can play centre half, defensive mid and was even playing advanced attacking role for wigan. he's decent in the air too.

i dont think jay spearing will cut it at this level now, its kind of been left too late for him. i regard scharner as a squad player, we'd still need another centre mid who could get us passing but anyone thats gonna push lucas for a place in the first team for free is well worth it IMO

sayin that though we could end up with muntari, who i dont really want but it would probably have to be one or the other
