I've been on here since 1997. For me it was something new
koptalk around the clock news about LFC.I was Liverpool crazy
way back then and I still am.

We have been screaming, praying, venting since forever for wholesale changes to the squad since the Houllier era. Houllier had his liking for French players. Benitez his for Spanish players. Now we have a new more mature boss in Hodgson. He seems to have a liking for British players and rightly so.
But he also seems to have more balls then any of the two before him ever had.

He comes in and decides to sell Insua, Reira and there might be one or two more that will follow him. Yes he might not have had a say in the first but he doesn't mess around. Degen was told he can leave and if reports are to be believed the player plus cash deal for Remy might be on. I have never been a fan of Ngog and think he should be the next one to leave. There was a couple of players that was Benitez's favourites and they were never good enough to wear the shirt. We need at least two decent players in each poistion.

We are a bit short on the left side of defence, up front and
also in midfield. Hopefully he brings in two or three more decent players and we have a season like the one before last.
I hope he gives the reserves a change guys like Ayala, Pacheco, Nemeth, Robinson, Spearing needs to get a run.

I truly feel very optimistic this year.

Liverpool for life!!

that was the main thing i didnt like about benitez, he was a stubborn like a castrated spanish bull.

the mr. professional style - no emotion, too cautious too stubborn and no balls.

look at mourinho when he took the title for chelsesa. if you didnt perform you got subbed at half time, simple as. i recall him making all 3 subs at half time once. alright he had the money but rafa had and houllier had their fare share over the years.

roy has brought back the only thing money cant buy... team spirit

Wish you lot would calm down a bit.

What's going to be said in here if we lose the first three matches ey? Sack him? whistle

Initial signs are most positive, yes, but let's not get too optomistic at this stage before we've even played a proper competative match.

true, benitez only finished 5th in his first season but we were beatin teams in the business end in the cl and prem. he made some drastic changes, zonal marking, formation. i expect us to be playin our best football come 2011 and probably revert back to man marking. i like our formation though, just needs tweaking with the right style of players

Come on growler don't p!ss on our bonfires. We have finally had a week of positivity, we haven't had that at our club for a years.

What if we win the first three games???

Sorry mate, but I keep thinking back to this time last year when nearly all thought we'd be in with a BIG shout for winning the Prem.
All this euphoria is a tad premature imo, and extremely dangerous.

As I said, things initially are indeed looking positive, but I just don't want screams for Hodgehegs head if he doesn't get it right within the first two weeks. You know what some fickle footie fans are like.

same goes for the sale of the club too, ive had my hopes up too many times in the past. people are being mislead by the press conference with broughton.

when i see the new owners on sky sports news, or a skeikh walks past me while am waitin for the 27 bus thats when i'll believe it

I'm delighted with the breath of fresh air surrounding the club, and you have to give kudos to Hodgson and Purslow for that.

However, what exactly has changed for people to now talk about us winning the league? Yes we have Joe Cole, but he's replacing one of our better players last season in Benayoun.

Gerrard and Torres won't have much of a pre-season to get used to RH's methods and by all accounts Gerrard had a poor season (not a bad World Cup in fairness) last year so we have absolutely no idea where his real form is at, and Fernando is injured again.

I know there will be the usual 'kick-on' from having a new manager at the club, but do fans realise we have Arsenal, Man City & Man U in our first 5 league games?!

I'd much rather tone down the over-zealous optimism of "we'll def win something, maybe the league" and aim for the "isn't it nice to be focussing on football for a change" optimism and hope that by Christmas we're firmly in the top 6, and crucial this... steadily improving with an aim to get back into the top 4, but with Man City and Spurs we have a hell of a lot of competition.
