Daily Mail have reported that Wigan will be signing Salcido for £2m to replace Fugueroa. Why don't we sign Salcido though? He was Mexico's best defender with his runs from deep like Agger where he skinned past several people. He embarrassed French and Argentines with his skilfull runs and he did this to a certain Maxi Rodriguez a couple of times. He can also play centre-back as well as left-back. £2m is an absolute steal for a versatile, quick, skilfull player like him.

I would actually go fugueroa because he has premierleague experience and is also a solid leftback. Salcido is a good LB no doubt but he might fail in the premierleague so its kinda a risk.

It's anyones guess who's going to fill the left back spot, two more names to throw in the ring today. Wayne Bridge and Jorge Fucile.

A few posts about Fugueroa out to Liverpool or Stoke, and Salcido in. Thing is having a talented left back who is more like a wing back than a left back, it is not much point in buying him when you are going to play 4 at the back. Role is very different in 3-5-2 for example. So Fugueroa gets my vote for now. Athletic as he is and a good left back. Good at going forward but more importantly, better at defending. Besides, Roy is strengthening the attacking options which show an attacking intent rather than a compact Benitez style of solid formation, rigid movement and defend, defend, defend..

I think Roy wants more balance to the team which is great news because it means we can start to look like LFC again.

AND ALSO !!! Salcido is 30 years old. Fugueroa is 27, 28 in May. Better option.

bridge is too slow, salcido is a better option, he can also provide cover for the whole backline, his main position was right back .... i don't care what country bridge is from, he is simply not good enough

Watched a couple of games of Mexico in World Cup, no doubt that Salcido is a good LB. But the most important thing is he is a right footer! We need wide players on the pitch but he is not the one. His defence is not that good...
