They say Riera is close to signing for Olympiakos but Juve and his old team Espanol have show interest.

We seem to have quite a bit of attacking midfielders or 2nd strikers now with Kuyt, Maxi, Babel & Jovanovich and Cole
we do need another full out striker and left back

swp is good enough for liverpool. he is better than any right winger we have at the moment. absolutely p*sses all over kuyt and maxi. he creates chances which is something kuyt and maxi lack! SWP is good enough without a doubt.

I would love to see SWP Here. He doesnt stand a chance getting in that city team especially as city are treating the transfer market as a supermarket sweep! He would love to play with Cole, gerrard and torres!

i disagree. what i liked about Rafa was his willingness to quickly ship out players he'd bought that he didn't feel we're going to make it. Case in point, Josemi, Kromkamp, Gonzalez, Morientes, Keane to name just a few. Far beter than Houllier who had blind faith in all his buys.

Also SWP just doesn't strike me as good enough. he had a couple good seasons at City before he went to chelsea and then has done nothing of note since then. i was amazed to see him in the england squad to be honest. however city are going to have to offload some players and if he could be bought at a reasonably low price im willing to let him prove me wrong
i agree mate i think rafa did a good job getting rid of the crap unlike houllier, that man really used to get up my titts. i was sooo happy when we got rid of him.

he was good at getting rid of the crap? Are you sure? The sh*t he bought used to start the majority of every game! He only got rid of those players you mentioned about 2 years after he realised that they couldnt kick a ball. What about degan, dossena, lucas, ngog, el zhar! Look at who he got rid of when he arrived, murphy, finnan, rise, and loads more!

My original point was how I like the fact Roy has come in with a no nonsense attitude and has told players like ngog he needs to find another team. I like that about him.

He has been nothing short of sensational, has Roy.

We've needed a manager like this for quite a while.

Gotta say well done to King Kenny and Purslow for getting him in...

Liverpool's Riera agrees record Olympiakos deal

(AFP) – 44 minutes ago

PIRAEUS, Greece — Liverpool's Spanish winger Albert Riera has agreed a four-year deal with Olympiakos, the Greek side's coach Ewald Lienen said, in a deal which would be Greece's most expensive transfer.

Greek media reported that the deal will see the 28-year-old be paid 2.5 million euros a year, with Liverpool picking up five million euros for the transfer.

The transaction will be a record for the Greek league.

"Riera is a very big player who has shown his value on the teams he has played and for the Spanish national team," Lienen told a press conference.

The 28-year-old former Espanyol and Bordeaux winger is expected to sign his contract with Olympiakos either on Thursday or Friday.

i'll be disapointed if riera does go i thought he was a class winger in the old sense of ''hogging the touchline''and giving us proper width unlike babel/yossi etc who all come inside with the ball.
i just thought new manager, clean slate see what you can do again for the club, but who can he bring in to replace him as a proper
winger ??
p.s. swp yes please !!!
