great news, if he's 100% committed to the club and will show it on the pitch! last season it looked like he wanted to be somewhere else. can't really blame him for that but he is the captain and you would expect your captain to behave in a certain way. great news though! im sure nando will be staying too

Just read in The People that Benitez has a secret pact not to bid for our players. With Barca having £ troubles - my bet is Mascherano signs his new deal with us soon!! His missus might have to lump it in L4!!

Can't wait to see a revitalised SG and Joe Cole week in week out!! Come on!!
But, by the way, I still think some of our fans are an effing disgrace - some of the $hite said about Stevie G - possibly the best ever Liverpool player of all time - is nothing short of a disgrace.

Well I will hold my hands up and say that i was saying that i was loosing respect for him because he had not come out and said he was staying or going, and in the mean time he was having his agent negotiating with Real over a deal, and then agreeing to that on principle. I still think that is wrong and disrespectful. But now he has said he is staying or words to that affect i will say nice once Stevie, good to have you aboard for another season. In a rant i did say he shouldn't be the captain and Carra should be and is more of a captain than Stevie, I stick to that view and wouldn't change my mind on that Well said Marko, and I agree generally. He should have come out with all this weeks ago, instead of disrespectfully srtringing some fans along like he did 5 years ago. I've said it before, and i will not change my opinion of him. Great foorballer, yes, but one horrible spoilt moody selfish petulant grossly overpaid little p***k who only has his own interests at heart. He really couldn't give a stuff about you me or any other true LFC supporter and you can please yourself if you think otherwise.

Captain Fantastic!! This is brilliant news, and I'm really looking forward to the new season now. I think this Roy fella is the new Messiah!! thing is, after fobbing off Madrid I can't see any team wanting Stevie after this due to his age, so Liverpool have him for keeps!!! Can't wait to get to Anfield in 3 weeks! COME ON THE POOL

Stevie was down the other end of the world and he didn't know what the fook is going on back in Liverpool. If there was no movement on a manager, promise of signings, and in the hopeful event of new owners, I say Stevie was keeping his options open and would have moved on.

He is entitled to see how this season was looking at Liverpool before committing. With the service he has given, he is entitled to do that I would say.
You can't take away what he has given the club for 10+ years - and I stand by my point that after he has stopped playing, he will be considered our best ever player!!
He is Liverpool through and through - end of...

After a dreadful season last year in which he did nothing, and then negotiating with Real Madrid whilst at the WC he is suddenly the saviour again.??
Let`s just see which Stevie G turns up this season before we sing his praises shall we, great for the club until last year and then appalling, let`s hope the real Stevie G turns up this season.

Has Roy got some magic wand nobody knows about.............. Brilliant news, two great days for news in a row, that must be some record. Very clear by what the two of them had to say, that Stevie was left to make up his own mind in his own time and shown a lot of respect by the club. Not told one thing and then another thing happens like a few years back.. The mind games are finally coming to a end
