While being interviewed on Sky, Roy was asked if Joe Cole would be joining Liverpool. His reply was, you'll have to ask Christian Purslow that, he is in charge of all transfer dealings, i'm only here to coach.

i think what is happenin at LFC now is, the coach will be provided with players to coach, i believe the current coach will hav very few say in the transfers...

100%. To be honest he didn't sound very happy. Only the other day he was saying how impressed he was with Insua. His exact words were tonight when questioned about Joe Cole were, " If you want to know anything about transfers, ask Purslow as he is in charge of all transfer dealings,they have nothing to do with me, I am here to coach the team." Bit of a turn around from yeaterdays interview whe he said the french lad wouldn't be joining us as he hadn't seen him play. It will be repeated on sky sometime tonight no doubt.

i agree on the lfc tv channel roy looked really down

i seen an interview yesterday were roy mentioned speaking to torres briefly and christian purslow continued the discussions "if you want to know more maybe you should ask christian purslow because he was at the meeting longer than i was"

theres still some sort of positive we can take from this though. i like the way roy keeps passing the book over to purslow and rightly so. i hope that this can only apply more pressure from the media to question christian purslow more and more frequently, he cant duck and dive the press forever. maybe, eventually we might start to get some answers

It does seem that he is at the club in a coaching role more than Manager. I wonder if in the future we will see it formalised into this anyway, with a Director of football in charge of finding and aquiring players, and the coach working out how they all fit together on the pitch.

Ironically, that is the set up that Rafa now has to work under at Inter.

Just seen the interview on Sky. RH was asked about reports that betting on Cole becoming a Liverpool player had been stopped. He said "I am not a betting man, that doesn't mean anything to me...... as far as I know JC is a player looking for a club, we have been connected with him.

I haven't had any discussions with him....... If you want to know about the transfer targets, and how things are progressing you will have to ask Christian Purslow, he is the man looking after those discussions, not me. I am here coaching the team."

I guess we will have to hope that Purslow knows what he is doing and doesn't make a balls of it all.

then I expect that the standard of player coming in will drop

i dont see any world class players coming through to replace any that we lose. So we have to face facts its the youth and cheap mid table like players.

Players will be replaced with lower quality players which will enable money to be retained for RBS and the wage bill to be reduced. Asset stripping.

We will buy players this summer but watch the figures closely.
