New signing Milan Jovanovic has been handed the famous No.10 shirt after completing his transfer from Standard Liege.

The number has previously been worn by Anfield legends like John Barnes, Terry McDermott, Jan Molby, Luis Garcia and John Toshack.

It was last donned by another free transfer, Andriy Voronin.

Let's hope he is better than the last number 10...

Remember the days when the Number 10 shirt meant something - best player in the team, the playmaker, creative force etc.

Now they give it to some 3rd rate free transfer who wouldnt get any where near any of the top 5 squads.

Next thing we'll be buying Paul Scharner and giving him king kenny's number 7 shirt

As i said in another thread. Its good to if someone wears these so called famous numbers like 10 and 7. Hopefully it gives more pressure and responsibility for whoever is wearing it so they can perform better. Also its cool to see someone wearing the number 10.

Lads, I think you will be pleasently surprised by Milan. Lad is a damn good signing, and a real score for free. Pace, acceleration, dribbling, eye for goal and a spirited lad at that. Am sure he is a good signing. My only hope though of us signing Arda Turan may now be gone. If Milan plays wide left, then I can imagine Turan will not have priority now, but rather a left back. That said. As a striker he is also damn good. Averaged 1 goal every 2 games for Standard Liege.

id expect him to play mostly wide left on the wing like he does for serbia, like kuyt and fill in an striker every now and again. he suits our formation, dont expect him to start every game, definatley a good squad player and somebody who can make an impact coming off the bench.

hahahaha that sh*t c*nt still thinks hes gonna make it back into the england squad (dont wanna mention his name). he's gonna look back on his career and really regret leaving us. i just hope skysports dont throw him as a pundit on behalf of liverpool when he retires, that will really f*ckin irritate me
