If this Scharner rumour is true then we are royally buggered. That is relegation level stuff.

As poor a Leiva is, Scharner is definately not a giant leap up in quality. We need to be chasing a much higher caliber of player than this.
like ive said before i very much doubt he will be a replacement for mascherano, hes a utility/squad player with nearly 150 games of prem experience and for free. it adds depth to 2/3 posistions. we could sell spearing and/or plessis and free up around £3m for both combined. whenever ive seen scharner play hes always been solid. its a good move for £0 and allows us to buy into more important areas of the team but, i dont think this will be the last centre mid if masch goes. until masch signs on the dotted line for barca or we offload some of our players then we have a very small amount of money to spend. it makes sense, its a good move mate imo. not the most ambitious of signings but its clever and i think some people really need to wake up, we would all like to see some world class players sign for our club but realistically we all know that isnt going to happen is it?
