normal team except Bastos at left back, Cole and Turan at mid, jouvanic up front with torres

i disagree personally he is top quality at club level, he had a great season for aston villa but i think he is out of our price range

with our transfer budget already at around £12m i would look to bring in a couple of squad players CM - G.Silva plus a LB - Bel Hadj? and maybe a RB, or a player similar to Arbeloa who could play accross the back four instead (at least Left and Right Back)

there are also more players that could make an exit. Nabir El Zhar, David Ngog and Phillip Degen... maybe that could raise an extra say £8million to beef up our spendning. Mascherano has been linked with a £30m move but a part exchange deal involving Cambiasso plus cash of around £10m would be fantastic business for the club. also if we managed to seal a deal with joe cole (unlikely imo) then one of the wingers could be scratched.

Michel Bastos is naturally an out and out winger, a very prolific one at that. Brazil can afford to play him at left back because there arent too many quality brazilian's in that posistion (Felipe Luiz maybe) and plus they have so much attacking talent. I think Bastos was quite poor lef back, especially in the Holland game, he could not handle arjen robben and should have been sent off.

signing michel bastos and playing him at left back would be like playing torres on the right wing

Don't get me wrong, I think Milner is a good player. But he doesn't have the pace to be an effective winger. He's only a yard quicker than Kuyt and we need at least a mile quicker.

I'm not sure who we can get for Left full, but i think its important Roy bloods a few promising youngsters like Ince, AMoo, eccelston and time to give Nemeth a chance.

Lets sell Cavallier(never plays) Degen, The Greek, Insua, Lucas, N'Gog, Riera.

Also Roy needs to make a decision on SPearing and Darbs because if they aren't good enough, we should move them on. ALso Kelly has massive future but at CB i think, also worth pointing out he played left full while on loan at Huddersfield and was impressive
