LFC were incredibly lucky when they got the sale of the century by offloading Couthino to Barcelona for £140m.

They used that money to buy Allison and VVD. We won the CL the next season and the EPL the following season.

Since then they have consistently underspent the other top clubs and it seems to be now starting to show.

Man City look like they going to dominate for the foreseeable future. Chelsea’s new owners don’t seem to be shy with the chequebook. Man Utd will get their act together at some point. Newcastle are going to be a force to be reckoned with soon enough. We also have Spurs and Arsenal to think of.

It was superb to win our first league title in 30 years but I wonder now are we just going to be a team that is battling to make top four each season and another EPL win is unrealistic under the current owners.

I compare us always to Man Utd very similar clubs in size and owner structure

The glaziers get a hammering from United fans but the glaziers spends on the team dwarfs that of Liverpool

Indeed. That said, United revenues has been dwarfing ours for ages and the Glaziers have been putting huge debt on the clubs as well as taking dividends regularly. They are as bad

The debt thing is a myth the debt is on the owners not the club having financing by debt is normal in the commercial world. The term is leverage

As for dividends who cares I would rather have investment and dividends than no investment and no dividends.

My ideal model would be FSG to enter into joint venture having a consortium running the club. I know there are disadvantages and risks to that but we can’t go on as we are penny pinching and expect to be at the top of football

I know what leverage is and for United, it was a leveraged buy out with all the debt secured by the assets of United, it was the same under H&G, this is why the bank took control when the payments couldn't not be made. Yes, paying dividends is not our problem, what I meant was that United would have had and even bigger cash flow if Glaziers were not taking dividends. You cannot compare us to United when it comes to revenues, therefore cash flow, though I heard that we will be close now they have dropped and we have increased. However, our increase is due to performance, which we can lose anytime, as we are seeing this season. A JV would be great but FSG woukd only sell a minority and won't want to be diluted, therefore, no investment in the club directly

All financing debt is secured on the business assets United are not unique in that.

And what FSG would do is not part of my argument we know FSG are holding the club back. My argument is as a fan and in an ideal world not as John Henry’s financial advisor

I think a joint venture 50 50 would be ideal or even FSG as the minority and I think we could take on some debt while being sensible

I agree, just saying FSG are not interested until they start falling off CL qualification
