It's been another indifferent low net spend window by LFC...par for the course under these Owners. However we have to question our new head of recruitment Julian Ward.

From Melissa Reddy Sky Sports:
"Liverpool had long planned to sign Bruno Liverpool had long planned to sign Bruno Guimarães, still at Lyon at the time, this summer.

When the Brazilian was close to Newcastle in January, the Reds decided to back out of the race and turn to Tchouameni, who eventually left for Real Madrid".

Michael Edwards left the end of last season so had a part to blame in not getting Bruno Guimarães in who signed for Newcastle last January. The focus then was on Tchouameni who again we allowed to be picked up by Real Madrid this summer.

With 2 prime targets gone there really should have been a focus to not make the same mistakes again and yet here we are with the same old same old "we'll get Bellingham next summer"!

Who thinks this will happen again when what has gone before and with more rivals willing to spend more? Also add into the fact just what happened with our pursuit of Naby Keita and allowing him to remain at Leipzig for another year. I would put it that, that year of allowing Keita to remain at Leipzig his form went horrifically backwards and he has suffered immeasurable damage because that is not the same player that turned up 4 years ago to Anfield.

Up until last night and Henderson's injury, we had not moved for anybody. The start of this season has been horrific by our standards with a treatment department full to the brim of our midfielders nursing injuries.

Liverpool have had plenty of time to rectify this over reliance on a midfield 3 that is ageing and picking up more knocks the older they get. It is evident the cliff fall we suffer in quality when we have to replace any of the 3 of Henderson, Thiago or Fabinho.

I'm afraid our season is toast now and we will be extremely lucky to achieve Top 4 with our rivals much, much stronger this season. We are playing catch up already and it won't bode well for Cup competitions with mountains to climb in the PL to keep tabs.

This Arthur Melo appeasement is just not good enough it is knee jerk at best for a player who hasn't played since May and has had 15 different injuries for Juventus since 2019!

To also hear we were trying to get another teammate of Melo - Denis Zakaria to be turned down for him to now be joining Chelsea speaks volumes at this wet behind the ears new recruitment guy!

There is also rumours that Liverpool had been trying to toss Tsimikas into a deal for Zakaria, which if true is just desperate and show how far we've slid in such a short space of time in recruitment.

Was surprised to see Denis Zakaria go to Chelsea, I am sure it's because of his wages we had to pay being higher than Melo, I understand Juve is paying half of the Melo's wages. Other clubs deserve CL more than us, so if we don't qualify, it would just be fair

Trying to compete in Formula 1 races with a souped up mini clubman!

You're right about not deserving of CL...passion, togetherness and any manner of positive words can only get you so far. The glaring fact is we have a few good players and a lot of chaff and a Magician of a Manager... there is only so many rabbits Klopp can pull out of the hat.

We are being found out in a big way this season that our depth is not what we thought it was. You cannot work on a shoestring budget at this level, you can still be conservative about spending but we take it to the extreme!

FSG did not learn from the 20/21 season when we had that crisis in defence, this time around it is our midfield.

It's looking more and more that we just don't have the money to operate sufficiently and that all comes back to our Owners.
The success we have had has been amazing but where is the money going when you see that the lions share of our acquisitions are paid by sales of players?

FSG need to find a way to pay for the upkeep of the squad and keep us relevant and competing at the highest level...it's simply not good enough!

But our wages are very high. That drains us much more than say Leicester, Everton or even Arsenal/Spurs. We are paying one guy over £350k a week. Probably more than any 4 of the Leicester starting line up from last night put together.
It's fair to say that without the injuries /suspensions we would be way on 12 or 13 points now and not 8 and then this would not be a problem.
We do have too many players missing too many games and it is always the same ones. This then puts a strain on a few others who are often playing 15 mins a match more than Klopp wants them to because......it leads to more injuries. I am sure if Tielemans was a long term prospect for us we would have snapped him up but at £25m when he can be got for free next season is not good value. It's nearly £500k a week plus his wages for one player. I am very underwhelmed at the prospect of Arthur but chances are he will miss the World Cup and be ready for us in the PL both before and after.

This is all because we're banking on Bellingham next summer. It's a low risk stop-gap so we're not dipping into the Bellingham money. That's why we're riding the Milner-Hendo train one more year - that's why Klopp was reluctant about the whole thing - that's why we went cheap this summer. However, Arthur isn't a crap player - he was very highly rated and just lost his way at Juve. Klopp might get a tune out of him.

He lost his way at Juve and didn't find any way at Barca

There's an awful lot of presumption going on at the club at the moment. What if we aren't in the Champions League next year? or somebody offers Bellingham / Dortmund more money?

FSG can't continue running it the way it is, with a paupers purse!

I agree, I can see Bellingham having a good world cup then his price going to £120million + huge wages, so someone like Madrid or Barca come in for him next summer, the same happened with Tchouameni, FSG have their value, if it go's over that they will walk, we will not get involved in a bidding war.

Their model has worked for them, ie, CL qualifications on the cheap, will be interesting to see what they'll do if we miss to qualify
