Salah went off early during the FA Cup final due to a groin problem

Mohamed Salah rejected Liverpool's request to have a pre-match scan on an undisclosed injury before the forward played 90 minutes for his country on Sunday.

The 29-year-old captained the side to a 1-0 victory over Guinea in Cairo as Egypt began their qualifying campaign for next year's Africa Cup of Nations.

"Salah was hit by an injury but played through it," said manager Ehab Galal.

He added Salah's X-ray would take place after the game.

Egypt are scheduled to play an Afcon group match against Ethiopia in Malawi's capital Lilongwe on 9 June and a friendly against South Korea the following Tuesday.

During the first half of Liverpool's FA Cup final triumph over Chelsea last month, Salah was substituted with a groin issue after just 33 minutes. The injury also saw him ruled out of the Reds' Premier League away win at Southampton three days later.

Salah's future is still uncertain as he is yet to sign a new contract with the club, despite his current deal ending in June 2023.

The 2021-22 Golden Boot winner said before the Champions League final in May he would be at Anfield next season "for sure", but would not be drawn further on his current situation.

If this is true Klopp/Liverpool FC have a problem on their hands.
There are stories now that Salah is purposely stalling signing a new contract with Liverpool because Barcelona have said he can sign for them for FREE next season!

Klopp needs to discipline Salah over the scan request and tell Salah to sign a contract extension or he needs to be sold this summer.

After the current Mane fiasco we can ill afford another scab turning into a full blown infection. Discipline needs to be upheld at the club, we are not Man Utd!

Yep, the ball is in Salah's court and it is obvious what he is going to do, run down his contract and leave on a free transfer in 12 months, his statement just before the CL final that he will be at LFC next season confirms that, as he did not mention signing a new contract.

It's a bit of a merry-go-round at the moment regarding elite player transfers.

Lewandowski wanting to leave Bayern and Barcelona in for him, but they can't sign him because they have a ban hanging over them and they'd have to sell before they buy. Lewandowski still has a year left of his Bayern contract to go.

Maybe we are in for Lewandowski and Barcelona are trying some sort of jiggery pokery, trying to put us off Lewandowski by targeting Salah, you just never know? but Klopp does need clarity on Salah?

If we are at our best offer on a contract for Salah and both him and his Agent have turned it down then it'd be silly to let him walk out the door on a FREE. Put him on the transfer list now and get 60m+ for him.

We may as well replace both Mane and Salah now, rather than lose money that we can put to their younger, hungrier for success replacements.

Salah did drop off alarmingly 2nd half of the season and one would think he'll be in self preservation mode for a final season with us, not coming near his previous contributions.
