Looks like he will not be our next manager in 2024 with Klopp extending to 2026.

And telling mention in press release,
Liverpool are building continuity from within which means are next manager could well be Pep Lljinders and not Stevie G

I'll be honest Welshie I have been against the idea Stevie G would be the automatic choice to step in when Klopp calls it a day and that was down to his temperament. His personal life, growing up he was naïve and immature because there were quite a few stories of him being associated with various gangsters in Liverpool. However since he retired from playing he has put his head down, grown up and worked hard learning the various facets to coaching and taking his badges.

Klopp helped him out and allowed him to manage the u18 Liverpool team and then he surprisingly (I thought it would be too big a job so early in his Managerial career) took over at Rangers where he was a huge success, unshackling the stranglehold Celtic had in Scotland. It wasn't just domestic success but he was taking Rangers to the later stages of european competition making them difficult to beat.

The Villa job was probably the right step for him because their expectations are not as high and I can see him being allowed time in that job as long as he keeps them in the prem. Villa will also have money to spend, probably not as much as the City's, Man Utd's and now Newcastle's of this world but better than most prem clubs. Their owners having the successful franchise team and last years NBA Champs Milwaukee Bucs. They also own a successful investment group, ski resort and luxury hotel in Wyoming, USA known for where the rich and famous hang out.

Stevie G is not ready now but it might be a different matter if Klopp does leave in 2026 and Stevie continues to gain knowledge and experience.

Gerrard has proved nothing to suggest he is capable of managing Liverpool that may change of course but so far I don’t see anything

Too right everyone was calling him heir apparent. I put his managerial ability in the same class as Lampard. And look at where Lampard is taking Everton.

of course if he did take over from Klopp he may get some success, but with the players at Liverpool I could get success with them.

Well, don't think he has been asking for the job neither, so this tread is a non event started by an idiot, to say the least. Don't know what his problem is with SG, but it's unwarranted

Fours years will give SG plenty of time to get more PL experience, 2 years would have been too early for the LFC job.

I'm also not one of these fans that already has him as a shoe in, personally haven't heard anyone say that from the peeps who I talk to.

If he does well there is a chance, however, I think I'd rather the continuity of Pep Lijnders or perhaps even a milner to carry on after Klopp.

I'd be concerned about Lijnders he already has a failed stint at NEC in 2018, sacked less than 5 months in of being appointed!

Milner I would consider as a possible - he needs to get his badges and probably given u18's Manager role for starters and see how he adapts.

A lot can change in 4 years and Klopp might even decide to extend his contract again.

Stevie was a great footballer. He has not proved himself as a manager. I would prefer Klopp over stevie.
