The Salah contract situation is getting all the attention but Sadio Mane’s contract also runs out next year and he only on £100k per week. Hard to believe that Salah will be earning 4 times as much next season if he stays.

Something has got to give. I think Mane will be sorely missed if he leaves.

Agree, we are walking a bit of a tightrope with Salah and Mane contract wise.

Salah was on fire prior to the AFCON tournament and his levels have dropped off recently, although his assist numbers are right up there.

Mane has been immense since AFCON and I think Diaz arrival has sparked him, he seems to be enjoying the more central role as can be seen by his recent performances v City and last night

I don't profess to know what the solution is with their contracts but the dilemma is whatever Salah gets Mane (quite justifiably in my view) will want the same

Unless one or the other leaves and the one remaining gets a bump in wages, but they must both be thinking that the next contract is their last chance for bigger wages/bonuses

It's looking like what we do this season, determines the fate of certain players. If we win everything then we may offer players better contracts...if we fail to win anything else it's likely somebody will be sold to offset the Diaz acquisition.

Hopefully Mane's demands are less than Salah's, I hope we keep him, I did read somewhere Mane had put off talks until the summer to concentrate on playing. He has shown he can do a very good job at the CF also, so gives us that flexibility, especially if he starts to slow down, he has always been a strong powerful forward.

I think some of FSG strategy is to let contracts run down so, we put them on higher wages for a shorter time, like, if we would have doubled Salah & Mane money a year ago (what it will probably take to keep them), that means we are paying an extra year on the larger salary.

We are also in a stronger position now, as we have Jota & Diaz already in doing well, so we are not under the same pressure to sign Salah & Mane as we have quality alternatives.
