If abromivich is to be sanctioned over Ukraine

How is it that mansoour city’s owner friends with Assad, refusing to condemn Russian invasion and running a regime that murders and tortures it’s population and of course the brutal regime running Saudi Arabia that now sponsors Newcastle

Why is one not acceptable and the other two are ?

Where should the line be drawn into what is an unacceptable owner on moral and human rights grounds in the premiership ?

You make a lot of good points that I agree with and it's difficult to try and come up with a black and white reason as to why some business we do with dubious countries is OK and others are not.

Ultimately many countries we do business with have dodgy on-goings and if we banned them all that's a lot of stuff we would have to go without. We could all stop buying cheap tat from China but we don't. Then again I'd argue our fight isn't with ordinary Chinese people or Saudis so there is a soft approach of trying to convince them that more freedom is better not worse but then we would be foolish to think the rest of the world sees everything the same as we do.

I think what Putin has done personally is so outrageous and close to home that all of these sanctions are worth it, he is isolating himself and his country from the world and causing his people harm.

I think we have to accept the world is not a perfect place and while it's frustrating we have to do some business with these people.

Things which annoy me are the ones which seem to be in our control. We don't have to sell every football club to foreign owners? Who are making these decisions, is it the fans or just the suits? We can produce our own gas for Europe here rather than getting it from Putin, whoever came up with the idea of cutting all our own output while giving all our money to Putin for his war crimes needs putting in jail.

I am not sure if everything you have said is right, I don't think the UAE murders and tortures its population, it is among the best if not the best in that region but not democratic. That said, I understand your point but it is not the FA or EPL which have condemn Abramovich, but your government. You should address thus question to your MP, don't you think? I have heard that London for a long time has been housing dirty money, especially the Tory government, I think it's a choice between morality and economy. Last but not least, what Putin has done is well beyond limits

These decisions are made by the shareholders and have been backed by the majority of their fans.

The UAE has a poor human rights record from googling it. Mansouur recent met Sadat and UAE refused to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine which suggests they are an ally of Syria and hence Russia

I also think you have to differentiate football from politics we deal with some very dodgy countries for economic and geopolitical reasons we have no choice in that if we wish to live in a safe country with a strong economy. Not ideal but that’s the way the world is.

Football is merely a leisure activity and I find it strange taking the knee for an American criminal but ignoring big human rights issues because they sportswash their brutal states by buying premiership clubs. Amromovich (who was poisoned at peace talks) is an angel compared to Newcastle and city owners

I am at anfield most games and whilst no body boos for taking the knee the vast majority like me do nothing. Meaning we think it’s silly woke posturing nothing to do with anti racism in fact it makes racism look like a woke issue not a society one and is actually a barrier to reducing racism (whatever racism is)

My main point was the kneeling is deemed important mass murder and genocide has a blind eye turned. Crazy world we live in and I am glad to see the conservatives are planning to do something about the woke and cancel culture and not before time and will be a big vote winner I am sure with the silent majority who are not racist but sick of being lectured at by a tiny number of intolerant Marxists and daft students
