Against West Ham today and Chelsea last week we were very lucky not to concede and at least draw if not lose. Seems to me if the full backs are going to be playing with such a high line it is inevitable that the opposition are going to have clear cut chances.
The problem is our forwards aren’t performing in the last third. We need to be scoring more goals but they all seem to be going for individual glory as opposed to setting their teammates up. In the second half West Ham definitely had more clear cut chances.

Chelsea are a top team and West Ham have been a good side for the past 2 seasons so It was never going to be easy. I actually also disagree with Klopp starting Diaz, he has been great but Jota has been banging in goals and is on top form, he also understands Mane and Salah better. I cherish the 1 nil wins just as much as 5 nil demolition.

Interesting point about Jota and Diaz Snakeye. Jota seems to be the most natural finisher we have and that’s what we seem to be missing right now but Diaz is looking very sharp atm and is arguably making a better contribution than either Mane and Salah atm. I wonder is it worth thinking about dropping Mane or Salah? Chelsea are a top team and West Ham have been a good side for the past 2 seasons so It was never going to be easy. Salah was really thinking of himself yesterday otherwise, our defensive problem is not only the fullbacks but our very high line, nobody plays like that and I don't understand why we need to always play that high especially when we are winning

We play a high line and catch opposing teams offside almost double that of other defences. Look at all the goals Chelsea scored in the cup final - all offside - they would have been good goals against any other side. We actually concede very few goals at the moment - and are still in four comps - so it looks like the risk has been worth the reward.

The high line does bother me against more direct teams, but arguably it works for the majority of games.
On another day the Hammers would have won that game comfortably, good to see the team grind it out and take the 3 points
I thought at one stage the Manc derby might end up a draw, which would have suited us, however the red side decided to capitulate, they really are a mess (long may it continue)

NAIL ON HEAD with our forwards not doing the right things upfront to finish games off. Our efficiency upfront is appalling it seems like 90% of our attacks hit a brick wall due to poor passing and wrong decision making.
Ian Wright on MOTD was spot on when he highlighted about 6 times a simple lay off would have made a clear cut goal scoring opportunity rather than someone booting it through a defender whose clearly blocking the route to goal.
Definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over expecting something different, well, our forwards just constantly boot shots into defenders expecting the ball to magically teleport through to goal.
I constantly say this and it gets really dull to moan on about it but we need 20 attacks to score 1 goal whereas most other teams will get 2 or 3 chances and take one.
For me the defending isn't the problem, although it feels very risky we apparently have one of the best records so the numbers don't lie.
The forwards need to pull their socks up and stop being so selfish. Today's 1 nil win will be next weeks 2 dropped points.

I think that our forwards are finding it difficult to finish because of our very high line, all our opponents are in their own half if not in their penalty box, thus we end up not having any space, if we had tall attackers to head the ball, a congested area might have been a lesser problem, but we don't and therefore need to shoot in very congested spaces

Having smaller forwards means they are more mobile and Mane, Salah, Jota and Bobby are very proficient heading the ball, they've all scored headed goals for us. Diaz I've yet to see his heading ability, however I'm certain he'll be coached the same way as our other players and it won't be an issue.
Having one taller target man would not play to our current strengths, having 3 on the field, smaller mobile forwards causes confusion for our opponents when either Robbo or Trent swing the ball in the box.
Look at our numbers, scoring isn't an issue. If chances created, dried up then that would be an issue.
