To be honest we should never have let Nico go to Fulham especially when we were trying to get Carvalho from them at the same time. We should have put a condition of Nico loan for the signature of Carvalho and let them loan both until end of the season.
The reason I bring Nico up is because I believe we should push Trent into right side midfield and have Nico as our right sided full back for next season.
With what we have currently at the club the best starting XI:
Alisson
TAA, Matip, VVD, Robbo
Hendo, Thiago, Fab
Salah, Jota, Mane
Matip because he does give us something going forward, rival players get confused and back off him. His distribution is better than Konate and he is good for a goal from set pieces.
I'm a little concerned with our midfield tbh because we have that many players for the positions and yet we are still at odds to whom our best available players are there.
I believe Keita has it in him to become a regularly, however he is inconsistent and has injury problems.
Ox needs to be shown the door - He's too lazy for our team work ethic and he has been at the club long enough to have nailed down a position even allowing for injuries.
Curtis seems to have lost his way, he's just to passive and has not shown the aggression and creativity to when he first came into the first team.
Milner we should sign up for another year because he is such a good utility man and his experience is invaluable to bring on to see games out. We should look to integrate him into our Coaching setup in the future. I'd be concerned whomever replaces Biesla at Leeds may want Milner to join them, so I think it's important we get ahead of that and show him he's wanted at the club long after his playing days are up.
Elliott has a good future ahead of him but I believe he is not ready to be a first team starter and the Inter game proved why.
We may get away with using him against inferior teams at inferior settings but the San Siro, Etihaad, Goodison, OT etc... he is too young and inexperienced to be able to handle it. We need to use kid gloves with him and bring him on gradually.
