Another cretinous wizz-hard thread! Stevie set up a centre block and forced our attack down the flanks, particularly the left side as it is less threatening at the moment. It was a clever bit of management and almost paid off but for a pen. McGinn is an SG type of player isn't he - nowhere near as good but has all the battling attributes that he loved as a player. I thought Stevie did well... he could have gone guns blazing and lost 6-0, which wouldn't have impressed anyone.

Says a lot for teams these days when avoiding a right hammering comes above trying to win. No shots on goal from Villa says it all really. Lost by one v us and City. Minus 2 goal difference for those games. Most other teams may have expected minus 7 or 8 for those 2 games. At the end of the season it's possibly worth a place or two in the table and more prize money.

Would we want SG as manager on that showing? Probably not but this is 5 games in and defensively you have to admit it was effective until the inevitable happens.

Oh come on, if that was big Sam using those tactics, and he had far weaker teams, you would all be critical of him but as its Stevie Me you think the sun shines out of his behind.

As for next manager if Klopp goes, it should be Pep Ljinders.
