If he is ever to be Liverpool manager this is the move he has to make. Having said that it does not follow that even if he is successful at Villa that he is a shoe in to replace Klopp when that time comes.

I hope he does well there but I hope we give them a right hammering in a few weeks time.

Good move for Gerrard, now he will be really tested, will be interesting to see the Villa fans response as they all know he is hoping this is a stepping stone to Liverpool, with how Smith was sacked, there will not be much good will for him with the Villa fans if things go wrong, I have see a few posts from Villa fans saying they do not want him as they are no ones stepping stone

I thought Dean Smith was abit poorly treated, promotion and keeping Villa up and losing his best player that everything go's through in their team in the summer, what did they expect? if he stayed he probably would have kept Villa up this season once the signings settled in.

I hope he tanks it and falls flat on his face.

Relegation to the championship would be great.

It would firmly out that nail in the coffin of Stevie G ever becoming Liverpool manager.

And that will be a bullet missed for us, When Klopp goes the job should rightfully belong to Pep Llinjers, not a ex player with no experience apart from a tin pot 2 team league in Scotland.

I disagree. Even if he bombs at Villa, I think it will be overlooked and that he'd still be Liverpool boss one day.

However, I do believe that the club are looking at Pep taking over from Klopp. Those two are the only names *currently* mentioned around the club.

FSG are not a nostalgic bunch. They sacked Kenny and may not even consider the Gerrard route. Furthermore, it's quite a big risk - if it goes badly he might knock himself out of contention. But Gerrard seems to be in a hurry. He barely did a year in the youth academy before jumping at the first job - then he took the first prem offer when many people thought he should have stayed, won another title in Scotland, and tested himself in Europe. Now he's plunged himself straight into a relegation scrap. This one should be interesting...

I agree, FSG will appoint the best person for the job at the time, if that is in 3 years, we will see who is best suited at the time, as it should be.

Look at how they got rid of Kenny, if there was any sentiment they would not have sacked him, but they took the correct, but difficult decision.
