Also releases an overseas place in our squad, so will be interesting to see who/if we buy someone.

I saw him struggling a bit with confidence until the second goal, which is normal, I think we'll have a much better idea in the next games. The last really outstanding start i can remember is Gerrard at it was really visible after a few games and Rooney in his first game against i think Arsenal. More recently it has been Foden for me, is Eliott that standard?

He looks v good. Can't compare him to Foden as he is a star. Early days for Elliot, but does look the part

What I like about Elliot so far is he looks a mature player and is willing to take risks. We desperately need something different in the middle, someone more direct, and although he made several mistakes, he didn't change his game.
I wouldn't compare him to SG of course, but I watched him at Anfield when he'd just started playing in the middle and noted he'd made several mis-placed passes etc.. until in my naivity someone pointed out everything was going through him.

Not comparing him to gerrard or anything daft like that but my point is he looks to be a regular first teamer and can only improve. Don’t forget he is only 18 foden is 21

No need to compare him with Gerrard, I agree, the question is, is he in the sane league as an 18 years old Gerrard, Rooney, Owen, Foden, Mbappe, Donaruma and the likes. Some players get better when they get older though, Salah, Drogba even Lewandowski, VvD

A lot of wayward passing and he gave the ball away on the edge of the box which could have resulted in a goal. He got better in the second half, he will become better with time, i think it's a wise decision to play him with the first team so they can cover his weaknesses instead of playing him in the league cup with weak teams. I would not play him against Chelsea, Fabinho hopefully will start instead.
