So looks like City could be signing both Kane and Grealish.

Utd have bought Jadon Sancho and Varanne.

Chelsea are in for Lukaku at close to £100m.

LFC have bought an unproven French kid at around £30m and not much else seems to be happening.

How can we have any chance of keeping up?

The money being spent on players now is just bonkers and it’s hard to see how a rational business model like the one FSG is pursuing can succeed in this mad mad world.

There are 93 other clubs in the football league that also can't keep up with Chelsea, City, and United. We have a great squad and probably ahead of 90 of those clubs so there is no point in self-pity. Football is about development as well as chequebooks - and we are in the top tier in that regard.

It can easily be that our first 15 or so are in top 93 but after that we slip down that table. That´s the reason we always drop out of cups early on.

Just listening to Sky Sports and they say that City has broken an EPL transfer record only once with Robinho quite some time back and maybe now with Grealish whereas United have done it 7 times...I think we've done it once with Alisson

£500k a week on a free transfer.

In Klopp We Trust. Let’s see what happens over the next few weeks and if nothing happens I refer back to my first comment.

Sadly FSG and the FSG model is not good enough nor will it ever be.

Until one or both change I am afraid we can’t keep up.

We can manage efficiently but sadly so do the clubs with the resources

If we want to compete with City and Chelsea, indeed the FSG model is not good enough but we could catch up with United if we keep on growing commercially, they still have a huge debt burden

Didn't sound like self-pity, of course things can always be worse... He's genuinely asking how we can compete.

Answer is we can't, on spending at least. Not when City can spend £100m on a player they barely need..

We'll never dominate for more than a season, only City can, but this team can win the league again if we avoid major injuries. Problem is we went stale and predictable last season and it doesn't look like much is going to change. If Real and Barca weren't in such dire financial predicaments, I expect Salah would've moved on to fund a re-build.

We've sold a few fringe players and more should go, so there's money available. Hopefully Klopp pulls a couple signings out the bag, but I'd expect one or two £30m players with potential. Traore type players.

Look at the ratio turnover to investment in the team utd vs Liverpool. Sure we are behind utd commercially but not much but we are dramatically lower than utd in investment in the team. Debt is irrelevant the debt is on the owners and the debt will be accounted for in the selling price / profit they will achieve. Nothing to do with the club yes there are interest costs but they are at record lows. I have never understood why united fans hate the glaziers but some liverpool fans give fsg a free ride. How would utd fans take to our starvation situation ?
