Something I have been saying for ages.

No...it's been one of our strongest points with Robbo and TAA since Klopp has been with us, our fullbacks ability to overlap our widest midfielders and create chance after chance with dangerous whipped in balls into the box.

Take TAA away from his fullback position will be detrimental to the way he plays. I'm convinced he won't be as effective in a congested mid part of the pitch. From his fullback position he is able to get the run on opposing midfielders and defenders, where he won't be able to, from standing starts.

Trent also has a wand of a foot to pass deep, something that will be missed if he is stationed further up the field.

Can he play in midfield.... yes....should he perhaps play in midfield for England....yes..... does that mean he should play in midfield for us...... no.

We have quite a specific way of playing where the full backs are important roles in the team, for us, I don't think we gain anything from having him in midfield rather than right back. I think managers can tinker around for the sake of it when there is really no need.

So? What makes you think Southgate knows better than Klopp how best to use TAA?

It would be exactly his current role except that we will play with 3 CBs

He would have more licence and space to go forward and he would have defensive cover behind him.defending is not his strong point.

But we will have a defender replacing an attacker which will make the team more defensive. With our non scoring midfield, dont think this will work unless we sell both Salah and Mane and buy a genuine number 9 like Lewandowski and a true number 10 like Fernandes. We will also be less effective pressing defenders of the other team. Therefore, Too many changes including tactics just to be able to use TAA to attack a bit more, so will not happen

if Trent moved into midfield he would no longer be a defender so it we wouldnt be more defensive.i wouldnt describe Trent as a defensive player.
we were screaming out for a tactic change last season,if getting big money for under performing players means we get the players needed then so be it.

If we are going to play 3 at the back, then TAA and Robertson will still be running up and down the wings, dont think you want TAA to play in Central midfield
