Over the past few seasons, we have been on the hunt. We have improved steadily season by season and being positive and always on the front foot has paid off.

However, we are now the hunted. Other teams know a lot more about us and some have even decided to simply defend against us. We also have more to lose when we don't get any points at all in the big games. Is it time to adjust our approach in some games? Start thinking about the percentages more? etc.

For example, when we play Manchester United at home in a couple of weeks, if we do all the attacking and play a high defensive line we'll be playing into their hands. If we're still a few points ahead of them in the league, shouldn't we be a bit more conservative, sit back and make them take the initiative? Depending on the points gap at the time, simply maintaining that points gap might be a good enough result for us. On the other hand, the consequences of a defeat could be huge and not just for this season.

United is a better team without the ball which is a good enough reason to let them have the ball and break quickly. But yes it is football that Klopp doesn't like.

And I don't think we have the right back line for this.

But they may be surprised if we do change our approach and so may not be ready to take advantage of any back line weaknesses. We could put an extra midfielder in front of the back four to take care of Fernandes particularly.

Also, they have struggled when teams have not attacked them. It might turn out to be a 0-0 bore draw like the Man City vs Man Utd game but points and momentum wise that would suit us more than it would them. I would prefer a bore draw to being entertained with 90% possession and losing the game because of a counter attacking goal or two.

What we have and what we do works. We are only getting undone because the energy is running out at times. The injury to Jota is as important to the ones to VVD and Gomez.

The West Brom game at 74 mins we started playing a bit of keepball and I am sure in the final third of the pitch we could have played that all night. Klopp is so right when he says how they have to concentrate even to do this when the other team is sat back. Unfortunately young Curtis Jones lapsed his concentration levels and made the mistake which led to the corner you don't want to concede against one of the stripey teams.

But who do you want to put as the additional midfielder and in whose place. Both Wij and Henderson are defensive, Keita and Milner are injured and Fabinho has to play in defence. The only other option we have is Ox, but he is not very defensive and removing any one of our standard front 3 is not really an option, we don't have an experienced CB neither. What do you have in mind?
