I am not suggesting the crippling injuries we have had this season to half the squad has been an overall positive, of course not.

But there have been some positives from it.

The first is what a great motivator and tactician we have as a manager, adapting to change. The second is the youngsters, the two Williams lads are good enough for the first team and yes make the odd error but otherwise don't put a foot wrong. We no longer need a backup keeper to alisson and Philips has also proved to be a capable first teamer. And even with a fully fit squad Jones is worth a place, we might have another future stephen gerrard type player in a few years.

So all in all we are not in a bad place

Rhys won almost all headers yesterday, despite Spuds obviously targetting him during the whole game. The only mistakes being at their goal and the 2 headers missed in the situations where Bergwijn almost scored. Not only Rhys to blame there either because Trent was nowhere to be seen to cover up for him.

The young lads have definitely benefited and mostly Jones, I feel he has stepped out of the young academy boy shadow into a premier league player. Rhys and Neco aswell as Kelleher and Phillips have also impressed which is a big plus.

Doesn't feel like we need another CB in January, though it would be great to have Fabs back in midfield.

I don't want to get carried away with young players, apart from TAA, but my god Curtis Jones looks destined for greatness. He seems to have gone from a teenager with potential, to a cup player, to slotting seemlessly into the first team, all within 10 games.
By no means the finished article but he seems the real deal and looks so comfortable on the ball. In a couple of seasons he could be something special. He's fearless.

Yep totally agree. The values of these players will have soared as well. Half decent players being turned into good players, great players and who knows one or two could become world class.

It kind of answers the question as to why we hold on to some players for so long. Not many that have left have gone on to pull up trees since Klopp came. Best may have been Ryan Kent. But he is not the level of Curtis Jones. So you can see why Harry Wilson, Marko Grujic and others are allowed to go out on loan. It's because there are better players that can be developed.

Rhys Williams was out on loan to Kidderminster last season and has flown right under the radar to come in and play brilliantly in the PL and CL.

With the injuries and pressure on the team playing 3 times in 8 days on a regular basis we should not be top 4 but here we are top of PL and into last 16 of CL.

With players coming back and the hunger shown by the back up squad we really could win both. I would also like to mention Fabinho. He looks like he has played CB all his life. His ball winning on the ground is unbelievable and at 66/1 I think he is a live contender for the PFA award this season. If he continues to fill the shoes of the best defender in the world for the rest of the season in the same form he has been showing he can win it.
