We have no more money now than we had in the summer - quite the opposite - when we should have replaced Lovren.

So there will be no more signings until next summer - maybe not even then.

Fab has played really well when called upon at CB. But let’s not get carried away. It is only two games after all. My fear is if he’s now our number 1 choice, other teams will get a chance to analyse his game and find weaknesses. There will surely be deficiencies in his game as a CB as a consequence of simply being a make-shift defender. Some positional issues etc. I noticed that our back line was a lot deeper against Ajax. Probably as a consequence of not being confident that the fab/Gomez partnership could successfully play the offside trap. If this is an issue going forward it is going to effect our ability to press other teams. The reason our line was so high was to shorten the length of the pitch
enabling us to press and win balls back closer to the other teams goal.
It’s going to be interesting to see the tactical changes Klopp will implement now and how this team adapts.

Attack may be the best form of defence for us. IF not all out attack, we may need to switch to being a bit more attacking again, or creating chaos in order to keep the opposition busy defending us rather than allowing them to try and exploit any weaknesses we have.

On the other hand, this season is probably the worst for a high energy game. In which case do we add more in midfield to protect the defence? Play a youngster next to Gomez with Fabhino & Hendo just in front, a three of Alacantra, Mane & Firmiho and Salah up front?

'We should have made a signing or two in the last couple of transfer windows.' Vish
