A cheeky bid for John Stones might be good, Klopp would really improve him and give him confidence, he's 26 so plenty of years in him, he would fit into our system really well and looks like he's out of City's plans, I think he would come if City would sell.

Stones is no better than gomez and also injury prone. The Ajax defender schuurs looked good, tall, big and the is 21. Upamacano has a release clause for next summer of 36m but if we want him in January we have to pay more. Kouilabally is too expensive and is already 30.

This is a special year we're experiencing. Can't see us getting a new player in as we already have Rhys Williams who seems to be coming along nicely.

Williams is a good player, but if we are going for the top prizes - PL & CL, we cannot rely on him as he is a young in-experienced player, we need experience and quality.

As you say, this is a special year due to all the games/schedules, we sold Lovren and Klopp decided we could go with 3 CB's and Fab covering as a 4th emergency CB. We know Matip is particularly injury probe and rarely plays consecutive games, Gomez also picks up injuries, I am guessing Klopp thought VvD would be ever present as he has for the last 3 seasons, but with this injury that puts VvD out for the season, we need to bring in a decent CB in January to maintain our challenge.

I am guessing we are already in touch with clubs/agents about summer signings, when we were probably going to bring in a new CB, so they may just accelerate that, if they have a target already lined up and pay the extra.

TBH I have been in awe of watching Fabinho switch from CM to CB. The first time this season v Chelsea he absolutely shackled Werner
and then v Ajax the other night he was a colossus again. Going forward (whilst VVD is recovering) Klopp needs to play Fabinho alongside Matip with Gomez and Williams as backup.

We have like for like replacement in Thiago for the CM slot so it should be close to normal service resumed when Alisson gets back.
In January we should look at bringing in another CB. I was impressed with the kid Perr Schuurs who has taken over from De Ligt's position for Ajax. He impressively shackled Mane the other night, something i've rarely seen of any player up against Mane and he is only 20! We should keep a close watch on him and how he is faring.

Dont think we have a choice but play Fab in defence, in any case we are well stocked in the midfield

Yeah, I think Fab is our second best CB after VvD when they are all fit !!! I guess that's why Klopp was happy to have him as an emergency CB, he just didn't expect to lose VvD for the season.
