Key word there is collective, every club will suffer not just Liverpool. Also Klopp is not going to reveal our transfer plans to the media, that's not how he operates.

Look, if all clubs are in the same situation there shouldn't be any significant transfers, but Chelsea has already shown the contrary. Question is, do you trust FSG, I battle to do so after their recent behaviour on the transfer market despite our record profits.

There will be big transfers. It's just a case of who, where and when. Nothing significant will be done until the season is well and truly over. The CL has not restarted yet and who wants a player that could get injured before this season is done and dusted?
We know Lallana will be leaving but even he hasn't signed for a new club yet. There is no hurry to spend money that we may or may not have. We don't even know what dates the window will be yet or when next season will start.
We won the PL with ease this season. The same players who got 97 points last season can go again. Any other season that would have been an easy title win. We are doing something other teams cannot do.
Let these clubs spend money trying to catch us. Chelsea and Man United got some seriously big wages on players that will not start games. City have to spend big but that CL ban decision will be key.

Lots of clubs are going to go out of business over the next few months due to the impact, I trust FSG will do whatever is required to keep us running successfully as a club, if that means we cannot make big transfers, so be it.
As people have said, Klopp/Edwards/FSG are not going to come out and say how rich they are and how they are going to buy 2 or 3 top players, look at Fabinho, we just signed him out of the blue, no one expected that, no rumours or press leaks. I do not expect really big signings, but I think we will make 1 or 2, we have some good players coming through, like Jones, Brewster, Williams, so Klopp will also want to give these a chance.

man utd was last reported to be 430m in debt so they can go splurge all they want. city and chelsea are funded by owners who seems to have bottomless pockets. i think our owners are just being prudent as well as keeping our cards close in these uncertain times.

I agree. And that is what worked in the past. Any news on any possible transfer is likely to be seized upon by the press. It gives us something to mull over on places like this. We have got to where we are by spending within our means. We have a manager who improves players. What we don't want to see is our best players leaving and nobody new coming in. But just because nobody new doesn't come in does not mean everything is lost. The bar may have to be reset for transfers and it may well pay for us to watch rather than get involved. For all the links to Werner we may have had we were never going to pay £180k a week in wages. We didn't pay these huge wages to anybody we currently have when they first arrived. Start signing players like that and before you know it at 27 they want £300k a week or leave for free. We are box office and we need to keep it that way. Klopp is one of the best 3 or 4 managers in the world. Time will tell if he is the absolute best. For the impatient fans you just need to keep on board and enjoy the ride.

The wages for Werner would not have been an issue, we were his wet dream for 2 years or more. Had Klopp been more decisive and exerted some more pressure on the suits to get a deal done for Werner it would have been on much less wages. It was the fact that the Chi Comm virus hit and the LFC suits went into miser mode...looking to save as many pennies as possible, trying to furlough Staff, gave Chelsea the opportunity to nip in and snatch Werner. The ridiculous fee to his Agent (think it was 12m) and offering him 180k a week with add ons and Liverpool's usual reluctance and Turkish Bazaar bartering swayed Werner and made him feel unwanted by LFC.

We would have had to pay Werner big wages, I know he wanted to join us, but if his agent comes in and says Chelsea are offering £180K a week, we would have had to be very close/match it, he isn't going to sign for £120K a week with that offer on the table, his agent has to do something to earn that £12 million !!!!

I understood that he had already accepted our proposal but we wanted to negotiate his release clause down with his club Until a contract is signed, it is negotiable, I don't know when we agreed his terms, none of us do, but I am guessing most of the top clubs in Europe had expressed an interest in him through his agent and probably said what they would be willing to pay him, so I am sure what we offered him would have been competitive with what the other clubs were offering. Even if we were his first choice, as we saw, he was happy to switch to Chelsea as soon as we were not moving for him this summer, it sounds like Chelsea were the only ones willing to pay his release at that stage, so the £180K a week would have been what his agent said was the deal I guess, as it was not a bidding war at that stage.
