Nonsense. You’re making out like FSG didn’t know who Klopp was, what he’d achieved and just lucked out on him. Nonsense of the highest order.

Like I said, Pep is tho only one to win consistently at City. Yes Mancini and Pelwgrini won the league but only once. They were one in one off and only now have they won it consecutively.

Why have City not been ‘lucky’? Seems to me that their owners knew little more than ours but could financially cheat to win unlike ours. Big Sam could’ve got City a title under those conditions.

When did I say that, I said they were lucky that he came available and we had Rogers struggling then. Why didnt they recruit him earlier?

City winning the league is not because of their luck of getting Pep as they had already won it with 2 previous managers, their luck is their owners.

So you’re saying City’s owners got it right from the start? Mark Hughes wasn’t it? Then Mancini and Pelegrini. All of them must be the same level as Pep then if that’s the case?

As I said, Pep was the only one to give them consistency. He’s the only one to win back to back titles despite their cheating. You could also say they are lucky with the timing of a Pep becoming available too.

If you believe the reports we tried for Klopp before he left Dortmund. He’s a loyal chap so there’s no way he’d have left for us like that. FSG got it wrong with Kenny and Rodgers was an up and coming manager that was doing really well so I can understand why he got the job. It was ultimately too much for him though. FSG learnt from that and got their man when he was available. That’s all they can do isn’t it? And let’s not forget he had planned a year off so they had to work to get him even then.

Where did I say that? What I said is City owners invested to give maximum chance for City to become a big club while our owners are taking advantage to get the maximum of what we were. City owners care about the success of their club as real fans do while our owners care about increasing the value of their investment. FSG were lucky to get Klopp who was available and will win a league a first time since they came, while City owners have been winning it regularly, irrespective of managers, the only constant has been their owners.

Vish is the one correct in this argument however the one thing I dispute is that city's owners care as fans. Unlike FSG its not a money making exercise but it is about international prestige they are a long way from ordinary city fans.

Yep, Abu Dhabi bought City to raise their profile around the world, they are trying to move into tourism and do abit of sports washing in the process, Saudi are doing similar with Newcastle, they have had a few bad years of publicity with Human Rites issues and Jamal Khashoggi killing.

I live in Manchester and they have done a huge amount of work for the area with development and supporting business and the community, but they are not doing this for love of Manchester or UK, it is all for the improvement of Abu Dhabi, so no one should be under any illusions.

As for FSG, they wanted Klopp, so that was a wise move, but we were lucky in the timing and that Klopp fancied a challenge, it has been said a few times Utd were in for him over the years, but the timing was never right and when he met them apparently they were talking to him how much money they would spend and all these top stars they would sign, which is not really Klopp's style, so we did well selling him the 'Liverpool Project'.

As I have said a few times, I prefer how we did it, we may have less trophies than City, but we have a bigger one as well, City would swap 3 of their PL trophies for our CL!!!! and no can question how we achieved it or say we cheated and were a rich mans play thing.

City’s owners have a huge amount more money than FSG so of course they can just come in and throw money around. FSG couldn’t do that so have had to take time and invest wisely.

I still maintain that if we were lucky to get Klopp then City were to get Pep. They tried other managers who won them a league or two but it was every bit as much trial and error as us. It’s only now that they e had consecutive titles (and still don’t have the ultimate goal, the ECL). It’s no surprise that their other managers won stuff when you look at what they could spend. Let’s not forget how close we ran them with Rodgers too.

And like others have said, City’s owners don’t care like fans. They’re just using them to make their country look better. To improve their profile.

They won 2 titles without being lucky getting Pep, that's the point I am making. You are getting lost in your arguements without looking at the title of the post. How was it a blessing for Liverpool by not getting Abu Dhabi sheik as owners? We all know they have more money than FSG and that's the whole point. I don't know what you are talking about as in any case, during that time City has won numerous trophies more than us and City, despite having a much smaller fan base are better financially than us.

For me you can’t say we were ‘lucky’ to get Klopp without saying the same about City and Pep. I’ve said a few times how they won it before they got him, money and lots of it. When you have unlimited funds you will win without the best manager as you can but the best players. The simple fact is that City and is wanted a top manager and we both got one as one was available. If we were lucky that’s Klopp was available why were City not that Pep was available? That’s my point. Pep was leaving Bayern. City didn’t lure him from them.

I don’t think there’s any question that we’d have won more by now with the Arabs in charge. I think any top flight club would have if they’d bought them and spend unlimited amounts of money.

Was it a blessing that we didn’t get bought by them? Yes and no for me. Yes because they may well be banned from Europe for cheating. There’s also a lot of satisfaction in how we’ve built and got to where we are. No because we’d have won more and I’m sure none of us would’ve cared had it happened that way.

I know a few City fans, as I live and work in Manchester, one of them really hates that Abu Dhabi bought them, as it tarnished City's good reputation, he hates UTD fans can now say you bought the league (what City used to say to UTD) and the club are owned by some dodgy regime which is sportswashing using his club.

More money does not mean better, the clubs reputation is important for the community, so yes, answer to the original question, it was a blessing we were not bought by Abu Dhabi and used for sportswashing, I had the same concerns when we were linked to Chinese buyers a few years ago who were linked to the Chinese leaders, there is a reason these regimes want to buy these popular football clubs, it's not too make money!!!!
