A few weeks ago someone said to myself the only thing that would stop Liverpool winning the title is the coronavirus. It was an opposition fan and at the time I took it as a joke.

However, if the crisis gets worse it's not beyond the possibility all major sporting events are stopped. Champions League even the Euros in the summer could be under threat and the premiership.

I know this is unlikely at the moment but nor is it impossible either.

Which is why we need to win the title sooner rather than later

I am also not sure in this event what would happen ? are the competitions canceled and restarted from zero next season? Or are they to carry on once the crisis is over? And if Liverpool mathematically win the title this year but the premiership is curtailed before a full fixture list is complete does that count?

The problem about the coronavirus is that Governments worldwide don't have enough of the test kits and unless somebody is literally falling over, coughing their lungs up and have a fever they won't be tested.

The incubation period for this virus is suggested at 27 days. The CDC here in USA believes at this time that symptoms of COVID-19 may appear in as few as 2 days or as long as 14 days after exposure. That means folks don't know they have it and are walking around infecting others.

The figures being reported for those infected is being manipulated to stop mass panic worlwide. Although the ones at biggest risk are the elderly and folks with respiratory problems.

Unfortunately The UK Government will have to suspend mass gatherings, which will mean all sporting events. It would be gross negligence if this does not happen to protect the people.

At this present moment in time, seeing Hendo lift The Premier League Title for the 1st ever time for Liverpool FC needs to be put on the back burner.

I don't see whey the clubs still can't fulfil the fixtures. It may mean playing games behind closed doors with only television crews in attendance. What would be wrong with that?

Very difficult to implement that Mighty, there'll be clubs who agree and clubs who don't. Plus fans will still congregate outside grounds even if curfews are put in place. The sensible and right thing to do is to suspend all mass gatherings including sporting events until this virus is contained.

As I said in the shout box, people need to get a grip!

If the league is shut down then the country will pretty much be shut down. If we can’t go to football matches then we won’t be allowed anywhere there are crowds like shops, school, work etc.

It ain’t going to happen. SARS had a worse mortality rate yet we all survived. Flu kills thousands each year yet we’re all still here. Bird flu. Swine flu. Foot and mouth. They were all going to end us but we’re all still here.

It’s too sensible and don’t fit the hysteria the media want to whip up that’s what’s wrong with it.

So do we lock down all our towns and cities too? All the mass gatherings on public transport, in shops etc. As has been said it can be carried around by someone infecting thousands as they go about their normal day if they don't know they have it.

Just like a lot of viruses. We should probably build sterile tents and never leave them ever.

It could very easily happen. Matches in Italy are postponed this weekend. Premier league have meet to discuss what they will do.
