To add to the million new threads on how we need players or don't need players I'm genuinely interested in who you think we should sign.

I'm happy with the squad unless we sell any more. But if I had to choose someone to sign.

Mignolet out etheridge in.
Lovren out Lascelles in.

Christian Portu from Sporting Gijon would have been ideal.for us. But he's just signed for Sociedad I think. Only 10mil euros.

I think cover at full back would be the priority tho. Gomez can cover both. Matip has covered RB as has Fabinho. But a left back is still needed I think. It's unfair on milner to put him there.

Yes we definitely need a left back, not sure who though and would go for Timo Werner who will come at a good price as he is in his last contract year, he can play both on the left win and CF.

The "reality" of our situation against City, is more a question of how many should we sign, rather than "who should we sign". One could argue we need a decent backup keeper, a decent creative goal scoring attacking mid, support/cover for our two full backs, support/cover for our front players. That's 4-5 players to put us on a par with city in terms of squad quality in depth. That's if we have the ambition to win the league, but do we really have that burning ambition? At least one defender of the status-quo has said he's happy to be second again!!

Sorry MrB, this question has been asked so many times on so many threads, but as it stands it doesn't seem like we will be signing any first team players.

Dani Alves on a free, can play LB and RB and judging by the copa, he can still run. A leader and an experienced winner with 40 trophies won.

Insigne or Dybala or Zaha to cover front 3, won't be cheap but there is a lot of quality there whoever signs.

All we need to bolster the squad.

It's hard to find quality players who'd be prepared to come in and have to work to get in the first team.

Lascelles is a good shout. Good player, would probably be our 3rd choice CB and let's face it, Lovren's never going to improve now.

Zaha I'd take too, though the price is too high for the bench. Still, if money's there, why not. He'd be a good investment regardless.

No idea on Alves - if he be happy as cover, wages he'd expect. I'm sure he could find better wages elsewhere.

I'd like to see us sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, able to switch between left and right wings and available for around 30m.
The Arse will probably get him though.

Leipzig just bought Lookman from Everton in anticipation for Werner’s departure.
Werner won’t sign a contract extension with them so Leipzig now want to sell to make sure he doesn’t go on a free. Bayern have been sniffing around for sometime but feel they can get him on a free rather than pay for him now. It’s a no brainer for me to drop 20 to 30m now on a player Klopp rates highly who will bolster our attacking options no end. The fact FSG don’t mind selling a star player for a big fee to pay for further additions which is likely next summer with Probably Salah or Mane, we may as well have somebody up to speed when it happens and Werner would fit the bill. If ever there was a season to bolster our forward line this is it with plenty of opportunities this season for everyone.

True but the question needed asking again. Most threads end up talking about why no signings and perhaps with the window closing in 7 or 8 days we should be asking WHO again.

Ziyech may be a good shout. Arsenal have Pepe and probably that leaves Ziyech looking elsewhere. Wilson is either going to be sold or in the squad. He will not be loaned. Perhaps if Wilson is sold we might buy Ziyech.

Despite one in and one out it would keep a few people happy.
