Former Liverpool star Dietmar Hamann accused of assaulting girlfriend in AustraliaThe former Germany international, 49, appeared at the the Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday
Former Liverpool and Newcastle midfielder Dietmar Hamann has been charged with common assault in Australia, after being arrested following a domestic disturbance.
The 45-year-old allegedly pushed his girlfriend during an argument at a house in Sydney.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday morning, with Police arriving at the scene at 2:15am.
An apprehended violence order was subsequently taken out by police to protect the alleged victim, who was not injured.
But Hamann allegedly breached the AVO before being arrested again, according to the Daily Mail.
Hamann appeared in the Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday morning at 9.30am local time, where he was granted bail after a short hearing.
Police had reportedly opposed bail and argued that Hamann was a risk to offend again.
Magistrate Michael Price granted bail on the condition that the former Germany international hand over his passport and report to Waverley Police Station on Monday and Friday.
He will appear in Waverley Local Court on Thursday where his lawyer stated they will fight the charge.
Hamann, who played for Liverpool in the 2005 Champions League Final, has been visiting Australia on an extended holiday.
He also featured in the Premier League for Newcastle and Manchester City as well as winning 59 caps for his country.
