We raped Barcelona for the price we got for him. Barcelona would want best part of what they paid for him back...not going to happen. He's also on a reputed 12m a year at Barcelona which would cause absolute carnage amongst other players in our squad!
Let him go to Man Utd and rock their boat and their wage bill alongside Sanchez!

Let him go to Man Utd and rock their boat and their wage bill alongside Sanchez! I think we had him on a massive contract to help keep him here and deter others from signing him. That didn't work. It is not our job to help out our European rivals by strengthening their financial position to the point where they can once again sign the players we are targeting ourselves.

We don't score nearly enough in the last season or two. 30 matches out of 38 in the PL where we outscored our opponents kind of shows that argument doesn't hold water. By the way we win the CL too.

Had some of our midfielders stepped up with a few more goals each last season, we might be sitting on the double now. I know some of the blame for our lack of midfielder goals has to do with Klopp's tactical approach, but we need to take the pressure off our front lads a little bit, so signing a good goal scoring, creative midfielder would be good. In fairness to Klopp he did try to sign Fekir for that role, but was thwarted by the suits. Maybe he'll sign one (though unlikely to be Coutinho) this summer. But yeah with regard to the latter, I did have my tounge slightly in my cheek! However the dreath of goals from midfield remains an issue, would be good if we can sort it.

He was my favourite player because he is a little genius. The thing is we don't play that way anymore. We have arguably the best keeper in the PL. In front of him we have the best back 4 and in front of that a workaholic midfield supporting everything. The front 3 speak for themselves.
We were a better team without him and we should just not look back. We bought him cheap, we paid him well and we made our money on him when he WANTED TO LEAVE. Without him we reached two CL finals and took 97 points out of a possible 114.
The players I mentioned don't compare with him but who do you drop on a regular basis to accommodate a £80m+ player?
He served his purpose. Thank you Phil but we have moved on. Also perhaps this will serve as a lesson to the Real Madrids, Barcelonas, PSG's and teams that want to be like them. You sign these players like Coutinho, Neymar and Bale you lure them to the sun, you pay them millions and when it goes sour you want an out.
Well fukk them all! We built our squad on selling our best players for years. This is our way of doing things and we now have Big Ears back! Signing Coutinho off the back of that would be a massive step back. The Scumchester link is just a poor attempt to lure us in.
Those that have left like Coutinho, Suarez and Sterling all have titles but we have gone to the next stage without them. None of them can come back. They don't deserve us so please let us not get sucked into this.
A below par Coutinho at 27 is worth about £60m with no sell on value to be had. I would rather spend that on De Ligt and make our defence even better. For the right price of course he would be great back, we never replaced him and especially his free kicks. If he is to come he would probably have to reduce his fixed wages. My only concern is how good he will be in the central attacking midfield, Klopp only started to use him there.

I'd have no problem with him joining us as an ex player, but I do not think he suits our play now, Klopp inherited him, he never bought Coutinho.
The problem is he becomes the focus, whenever we struggled the players would just give the ball to Coutinho and hope he could do some magic and score a goal/unlock a defense, occassionally he did that, but for every one that curled in the top corner there were 10 that ended in the stand and stilted our attacks, teams could just block off Coutinho and they would stop our attacks.
There are better options, especially at the huge money we are talking, I'd perfer someone like Isco or Madisson, we also have Grujic & Wilson who might be able to play there giving that creativity.
We do miss Coutinho's free kicks.
