Assessment of the squad:

Broke down, the above represents the most likely use of the players if needed. It does not take into account on loan players or younger players who've previously made a senior bench or appearances in the domestic cup comps.

It does look like a strong squad, however the 2 positions that would be a concern would be GK & LB.

Should Mignolet be sold, Kelleher would then become Alisson's understudy. Whilst Klopp is not afraid to give Youth a chance it would be a worry were Alisson to get injured for any length of time to entrust the gloves to a relatively inexperienced kid.
The return of Karius should not be an option.

The LB position we are light in should Robbo get injured and a specialist LB as cover really should be sought.

Klopp does like deals to be done early so with coming up to a month since the summer transfer window opened, it is telling that we've not yet made a purchase. If Mignolet is sold then I do expect Klopp to have his bases covered 1st before allowing it to happen. Other than that it would seem we go to battle with an unchanged squad minus Moreno & Sturridge.

Adam Lewis is being promoted to the first team so he will be another LB option.

Brewster will replace Sturridge who didn't play much.

A decent back up GK RB LB and ST would be great but none of them are urgent.

Gomez can also cover LB as that’s where he first played for us under Rodgers. I’d still like an experienced player that could cover both full back positione butbis happy to be a bit part player.

We have Ox back which will be like a new signing in midfield.

Then think the only position we really need to reinforce is upfront. Someone that can rotate with Firmino and also cover one of Salah or Mane.

There is enough there to get 90 points and defend Big Ears successfully. Anything else is just overkill. We want to be at the level we are now for a long time. We need to pace ourselves as a club to do this. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

City are likely to make CL their number one priority and it will eat at them as much as it did Chelsea trying to win it. Despite all their money spent and changes of managers they have only won it once between them.

We could spend nothing and win one of the big 2 trophies. We could spend £150m and win nothing at all. Save the money to replace players in 3 or 4 years time. Others will spend £150m a season just to catch up or qualify for CL.

The beauty of having a young squad on long contracts is that you buy time to find their replacements and can step in at the right time for the right player.

Everyone loves a flurry of transfers in but Spurs showed that it is absolutely not necessary. With the war chest that they are building they are going to be challenging us too.

Though Gomez started at LB for us, he does not have the required skills in Klopp's system where full backs are defending wingers. Gomez is too right footed for that
