We cant sell any CB even if we sign this guy, we need squad depth to compete on all fronts and Gomez can also cover RB so I'm puzzled by people wanting him sold?

I would say yes to De Ligt because he is one aggressive and determined fella. In the premier league aggression can sometimes compensate for height and skill. We already have that in Virgil. Matip while taller wouldn’t hurt a flea if he had the choice

Is De Ligt legit?

Matip had a great season. I don't think that's fair.

But I think De Ligt is a special player and would be next level. The fact that he's Virgil's partner internationally is also huge. With Virgil, De Ligt, Gomez, and Matip we would have 4 good CBs, and we could rotate comfortably. Send Lovren on.

I would also like a pair of back up fullbacks as well.

Big difference with de Ligt is he is quite a good scorer from set pieces, with the number of corners we get which is second to City only, it would be a major advantage

If you read most rags they believe Barcelona have got De Ligt already. However i think Barcelona have to sell the likes of Coutinho 1st to be able to fund the deal and the clubs supposedly courting Coutinho are Chelsea who have the transfer ban and Man Utd who have no CL.

I think the likes of VVD & Wij can get us over the line for De Ligt and we really ought not to try and cheapen it by bidding silly low numbers for him. It's not as if we haven't got the money because we have. I'd really like us to get our deals done early and let the players enjoy their break to refresh them for pre-season and getting off to a great start. Bloodying City's nose in the Charity Shield would be a great start.

I can’t see it happening. You have Gomez who is young and before he got injured looked fantastic. Better than De Ligt and on par with VVD. Matip has also just had the best season of his career. If De Ligt came in, he’d want higher wages than both vvd and salah. I can’t see that going down well in the dressing room. Imagine how vvd would feel if he’s just won the champions league and player of the year and the club decides to bring in a 19 year old kid to play next to him and pay him more after he’s done [oops] all. Nah. He’s decent player but he hasn’t done enough to justify the wages or the price tag people are talking about. We need cover for full backs and cover for up top. That should be the priority.
