To compete with City for the PL we need more quality in the squad, that doesn't mean we need to spend £100+ million, Robertson was only £8 million, so with good scouting and recruitment, we can close the gap.

I'm hoping Wilson could step up, he looked good in the play offs I saw, but he did drift in & out the game, so he may not be ready yet. I haven't seen much of Brewster, but the reports are good, but he's had a big injury, so we cannot rely on him.

Well no we don’t need to spend that to add quality but we would to buy those players that Paul suggested would’ve made things different. I can say “just imagine if we could’ve brought on Messi, Ronaldo and Mbappe” It’s kind of meaningless.

Rotating doesn't really mean sitting on the bench especially if they are as good as the first team players and we don't need 100m for that. For exampke Spurs bought Lucas for 25m, Arsenal bought Aubameyang for 55m, we bought Shaq for 13m. If we want to have any chance to beat City to the title we'll have to spend on a player who can rotate with Mane and Firmino. Origi has done well but I doubt he is of equivalent quality.

Rotating isn’t the way to build a good team. Look at Rafa. He hardly ever started the same 11 from one game to the next and it was infuriating. Teams need time together to build partnerships especially up front.

What we need is clearly better quality to cover when players need a rest or are injured. But rotating them week in week out will get us no where.

Indeed you cannot rotate in all positions, especially GK and defence, however, we have seen we can rotate in the midfield and City has done it with some of their attackers and it works. Hendo, Wij, Milner, Fabhino, Keita constantly rotated and not only when anyone was injured.

Well we proved that you CAN rotate the defence when you have to as Matip, Lovren and Gomez all played with VVD. The best of these until his injury was Gomez. Perhaps the loss of Gomez cost us? After all he was missing for the run of 14 games where we had 9 wins 4 draws and 1 defeat. Or our blip as everyone calls it.

I suppose you can but usually teams don't rotate defence and we hardly rotated when Gomez and VVD were fit. Point is, you can rotate unlike what Wilkij thinks.

I just prefer all players to have time together to build good partnerships. Rotating now and then to refresh players is fine. If you do it week in week out just for the sake of it isn’t good for me.

Just my humble opinion which I’m entitled to which by the way doesn’t have to be the same as yours.

Never said your opinion has to be the same as mine because this is a debate forum. What's the use of saying others opinions are negative or miserable or brain dead etc?

Coming back to rotation, my opinion is if you put a player who hasn't played in the team for a long time, chances that he would gel will be lower while with rotation (if the players are of similar level) they all get used to play together. If teams were playing only 1 game a week, then maybe rotation would be damaging, but with the number of games in the cups and league, it's more 2 games a week, so rotation can still allow players to get used to each other. We did it in midfield this year and City did it in both midfield and attack, maybe this is why in terms of freshness these 2 teams were above others.

No you just call people a fukking idiot if it isn’t the same as yours.

I’m not sure City rotated their front men/man. Aguero played 33 times for them in the league with 31 starts. Jesus played 29 games with just 8 starts. Sterling started 31 games, David Silva 28, the other Silva 31. That’s the bulk of games for those more attacking players.

Our midfield was changed quite a bit and we suffered sometimes with bad combinations. But I feel it was more through necessity of injuries and bad form than anything else. Fabinho took time to get going as did Keita through injury. Hendo was injured a bit too. The only one who played the bulk of our games was Gini.

We will always need to rotate so better players to do that with is important but it still shouldn’t be a regular thing just for the sake of it.
