I think most people agree that we need another striker, someone to cover/rotate with Firmino and the rest of the front 3. Sturridge will be gone, and possibly Origi too. Brewster will step up into the squad, but we still need someone else that can step in without lowering the quality of our attack.

I've been wondering recently who we might try to sign, and have been looking through scoring charts etc. to see what the options are. Some of the players I've listed I know we won't sign, but included because I think they'd fit into our attack well:

The dream signing:
Mbappe - I know this is never going to happen, but can you imagine...

Players I'm more familiar with:
Son - Would be a great fit. Similar to Firmino in work rate. Spurs would want a fortune though
Lacazette - Been a great signing for Arsenal. Highly unlikely they'd sell to us, and at 27, I can't see us spending the kind of money it would take.
Mitrovic - Not as suited to our style as the above too, but did well considering the team he was playing in, and would probably be available cheap given their relegation.

Players I'm less familiar with (some I've never seen play, but just going off stats/reputation etc.):

Werner - RedBull - 23yo Been linked in the past and gets goals. Not sure how suited he is to our style from the few times I've seen him though.
Rashica - Werder Bremen - 22yo - can play other positions as well as striker
M Dembele - Lyon - 22yo
Ben Yedder - Sevilla - 28yo - might be a bit old, but for the right price he could be good cover.
Immobile - Lazio - 29yo - As above.
Icardi - Inter - 26yo - A lot of rumours that he'd available.
Dybala - AC Milan - 25yo - A lot of talent from what I've read/seen, but would cost a lot.
Volland - Leverkusen - 26yo
Joelinton - Hoffenheim - 22yo - has been dubbed the 'new firmino'.
Jovic - Frankfurt - 21yo - Broke through this season and banging them in. Would cost a lot though. Real rumoured to be interested.
Alcacer - Dortmund - 25yo - great goal/game ratio this season, but have a feeling he's had injury problems.
Inaki Williams - Bilbao - 24yo
Andre Silva - Sevilla - 23yo
Piatek - AC Milan - 23yo - same as Jovic
Rafa - Benfica - 25yo - Good record in portugal, but it's not the toughest league.
Lammers - Heerenveen - 22yo - Same as Rafa, but younger and playing in Holland.

Anyone know anymore about any of those players? Are there any you'd want to see us sign? Any options I've missed off the list (I'm sure there are plenty).

I considered Sancho, but from what I could see he doesn’t play upfront (just in wing) so wouldn’t solve our need to back up Firmino. I’d put Pepe in the same category as Sancho in that regard along with a few others which is why I didn’t include him either (if they can play up top then get them in!)

Both Mane and Salah never played in the centre before this season and Firmino was a midfielder. Sancho has a great eye for a goal, so i feel he can play across our attacking positions. Klopp does seem to look for technically gifted players who can be flexible in terms of position.

If we really want to go for the PL, Vardy would be a great buy, I know he doesn't fit the FSG profile with his age, but he would instantly come in and fit into our team, he's great playing on the break and a deadly finisher, lots of experience winning the PL, he can take the pressure.

It would be abit like when UTD bought Van Persie, he might only play 1 or 2 seasons, but if that wins us the PL, its worth it IMO.

The good thing about Vardy is he still has pace and would be good for 15 goals plus across all competitions. He has played CL with Leicester and is no longer part of the England set up so would be ideal for those games after an international break. He also has a good record of scoring against the top sides as we know to our own cost. He would be a low risk signing.

The downside is his wages would be similar to Sturridge so we would have an expensive player still on the bench. He would also cost a fair bit (maybe £20m?) and he is 32 now. To move he would surely want a 3 year contract and there is no resale value here at all.

If Klopp truly believes that Brewster is ready to step up then having someone like Vardy around would be another forward for him to learn from. But would bringing such a high profile striker in actually hinder the progress of Brewster? And where does that leave Origi? If this was City then he would be gone as Pep has been ruthless with replacing some of his players in order to improve his squad.

We all look for a sexy striker to fit in alongside or to help rest the current front 3. Transfer fee, wages, experience, sell on value, age, all have to fall into place.

I think in the case of Vardy maybe it is just a year too late and there is probably more value to be had in one of the foreign lads already mentioned. Especially in terms of wages to begin with but also with sell on value.

Vardy is a player who needs space, ie, fits better in a counter attacking team which we are not. Yes we do have counter attacks but this happens mostly when corners are taken by our opponents, otherwise we always have possession and need attackers who can operate in tight space, Firmino is one of the best in those situations. So not sure Vardy will be as effective in our system and with his age only a very low transfer fee will be sanctioned.

Werner. If Bayern want him. They will get him. But he would be a good option for us.

Rashica is a rapid winger turned forward. Like mane.

Dybala is a strange one. He hasn't lived up to the hype he had around him a few years ago. All his goals are set pieces.

Ben Yedder and immobile are too old and would be too expensive considering their age.

Icardi is a nightmare. Don't want him anywhere near the club.

Joelinton is being touted around by his agent a lot.

Nicholas Pepe is another one being mentioned.

Jovic looks like he's off to Madrid.

I'd take Fekir or Depay I think either of those would be perfect.

Ousmane Dembele would be the dream one

Just seen that Werner is available on a free! Didn’t realise that before, kind of makes it a no brainier if we can get him and Klopp thinks he can work in our system. Him and Brandt for £23m would be incredible business and give us the depth our attack has been missing
