if only the players felt as strongly about the owenership issue as the fans. the fans have very little power to really get to hicks. yes we can protest, yes we can write emails to rbs and we could even agree not to buy LFC products to try and hit Hicks in the pocket but player action would have significantly more impact than anything else.

the problem we have as fans is that in basic terms all we really represent is consumers of a companies product. by protesting and refusing to buy products we are essentially no different from the environmental activists or human rights activists that choose act in the same manner against companies such as Esso or Nestle. whilst this may raise awareness of the issues in question the number of people taking action is such a small proportion of the overall consumer base it makes very little difference to the companies and therefore they see no need for immediate change. the only way fans could have a significant impact on their own is if actions are coordinated and ALL fans commit to taking part. imagine the first game at Anfield next season and not a single supporter is in the ground? i know this won't ever happen but without that kind of complete support from all fans the protests won't have the required impact.

however the players and staff are employees of the owners. diret action taken by them would be hugely more significant than anything fans could do. if the first team took action in the form of visual on field protests, speaking out in the press or even going as far as striking hicks would have to come out from his hole and take some form of action. the players know they are in a powerful position as the worst hicks could do would be to fine them or sack them but is he even able to do this in his current position? hicks couldn't sack the entire playing and coaching staff without a huge finacial outlay and if he did then he would't have any assests left to strip. im sure as well athe court of arbitration wouldn't allow such a measure.

i just feel that the players and ex players who claim to love this club should be as equally worried about this issue as the fans. how good would it be to see ex players, ex staff and current memebers of the squad come out and speak up against the owners. a protest group lead by the likes of gerrard, carragher, fowler, mcmanaman, dalglish, hansen etc would have so uch more impact and influence than the fans alone. the only way we can get hicks out is to get him to lower his valuation and one of the only way i can see him doing this is either if the publicity and coordinated action of the club and fans together puts enough pressure on him.

see the problem with that is as follows: pss off gillett and hicks and they can take this club to the wall.

Luis Garcia, He drinks sangria
He came from Barca, to bring us Joy
He's five foot seven, he's football heaven
please don't take my Luis away.

is that not their plan anyway? i think the only way to get him to lower the price is to make him feel like the aggrevation is no longer worth the pay off. it seem to me that gillet is ready and willing to take a decent offer because he's been affected by the negative impact of all of this. i read somewhere he'd had death threats to his home, place of work, daughters house etc. you can't advocate that kind of behaviour but it has obviously affected him enough to realise he's better off out of it. we need to make hicks feel the same.

i just feel as your basic spporter we don't have the power to affect the situation positively without taking some illegal or questionable action. however players, staff, ex players and even some of our so called celebrity fans have the profile to make more of an impact. it needs a husge collecive effort from all elements not just the fan in the street.

A player strike will never happen. What we really need is a fan strike. Only for 1 game but it would show those thieves that we mean business. Doesn't even have to be everyone. 10,000 empty seats for the first game of the season should do it.

Play nicely or I'll start deleting the post you leave with the sole purpose of winding people up Kopite.

Do you like to have a dig about everything and everyone? Give it a rest mate, something constructive to add would make for a much nicer forum.

Dont worry about that gimp Kent because anymore crap from him and I'll remove his posts that are meant to provoke people and generally just try to upset other users of the forum.
