No I am not. I think we can all agree that the league is the big one we need win but we have a squad and can mix it up with the rotations, I don't like seeing an u23 team play because we will automatically lose which will anger me because we have enough experienced players that can play and win us the tie without risking everyone. I prefer we try instead of not giving a [oops].

I agree the FA cup is our third priority. And some squad players should get a run-out. But a second loss in a matter of days would seriously dent the team confidence. But leaving out Alisson and/or VVD is a luxury we can't afford a the moment.

Agree about the potential impact of a loss, or even a draw. Looks like Klopp just doesn't see it that way though. We could be in for a nervous evening tomorrow... and if it goes wrong, a fraught week ahead.

If the teams confidence gets a dent after one loss and a defeat for the second string, if the wheels then fall off and we’re that mentally weak then we deserve nothing.

It's human nature Wilks... any setback can sow the seeds of doubt and those that want us to fail will sieze the opportunity to nurture and exacerbate the doubt. You are tight... whatever happens it will be a test of our mental strength. From a fans perspective though, we'd rather not undergo that test just in case we don't like the outcome. smile Just nip it in the bud.

I personally think, given our squad depth, our B team should be capable of beating wolves who will most likely also make at least some changes. Play a second string side for this round and maybe also the next then if we're still in the competition maybe consider going for it. Otherwise if we get put out fck it! Simples. smile

They’re pros. They’ll understand that losing is part of professional sport. They’ll have the right mindset and if just two losses derail them then we’re in bigger trouble than just losing out this season.

You're totally correct. Mental strength is probably one of the key differntiators between ultimate champions and also rans.

However, it's like that saying about being a fool.... something like: 'better to keep quiet and be a suspected fool rather than opening your mouth and being proved a fool'

Similarly, do we really want to test the team's mental strength if we can avoid it? smile (after all, we already know we have players like Lovren, Migs and Moreno who are prone to brain fades)

Alisson will be left on the bench, VVD will probably play as 2 CBs are injured. Our squad players need to show their quality, else they won't be good enough to help us in the other 2 competitions.

I agree although having played and won 8 games in December some of these players need a rest. Certainly VVD who is playing for 2 at the back since Gomez and Matip got injured. Certainly the front 3 and Robertson.

The midfield has been rotated successfully in that period and Henderson, Milner, Keita, Lallana should probably be the starters.

Sturridge, Origi, Shaqiri can start as a front 3 At CB maybe we should put Fab alongside Lovren. Migs can start in goal with maybe Camacho and Moreno.

That would still be a stronger side than Wolves would face anywhere outside the top 6. It is still probably all round a stronger side than Arsenal, Man United or Spurs put out this weekend.

Wolves will make changes too. And I hope they do because they are away to City next weekend so I won't be happy seeing them at full strength.

Perhaps with a home draw we would certainly play more youngsters but this competition is important because it helps to keep squad players ticking over. A run in this competition will improve the fitness and integration of Lallana, Sturridge, Origi and Keita. So important that if we hit a couple of injury issues that these players are up to speed to play PL games.

City had players out and lost 3 games in PL due to not having players fully up to speed and not due to ability.

If we bin off this competition too readily it will question our ability to compete on a match day further up the line.

We have enough squad depth to go there and win.
