Clynes departure has left many scratching their heads and understandably so. What with recent injuries across our backline, at first it seems rather reckless to weaken it further by allowing Nathaniel clyne, a very experienced 27 year old, former England first choice right back, to leave the club on loan. I suspect the departure is in many ways the main facilitator of the transfer fee obtained for Solanke. At 19 million many Liverpool fans would have bitten your hand off, with the caveat of clyne going as well...maybe not as much. That being said though, I have a theory as to what Klopp might have been thinking going into this deal.

Now, if the stories are to be believed (and there is no reason not to believe them), the answer to the RB question might lie in the almost miraculous recovery that we've seen of Oxlaide Chamberlain. Considering the midfield we now have and the fact it will take time for Ox to get back to his best, is being played as a back up RB the perfect opportunity for him to get back up to speed in terms of match fitness? Alternatively, seeing as Ox has some experience playing as right wing back for arsenal, we could perhaps see a change in formation with us seemingly having 3 CB's all having a good season. A back 3 of Lovren, Gomez and VVD with robinson and Trent as wingbacks with Ox to cover I think would work very well given time.

Anyone else think this might be what Klopp is thinking?

Considering what we know about Klopp I can't see him putting Ox in there. We still have Milner and Fabinho who can fill in at RB, not ideal but decent. That said, I still don't understand how Clyne hasn't really had a look in this season.

Something was up with Clyne on a club disciplinary level wasn't there or have I just dreamt that? Pretty sure Fabinho could fill in there if needed. Either him or Milner has a good enough footballing brain to do the job although it is not ideal.

Yeah definitely something happened with Clyne for Klopp to treat him like a ginger haired, step son!

His contract is up on 30/06/19 and we decide to loan him to Bournemouth for the rest of the season?

He made 1 starting line up v Utd and made 3 appearances from the bench this season, usually with sparrow fart time left in those games.

The only logical conclusion is that Clyne was causing some sort of strife in the camp and Klopp just wanted rid. Bournemouth paying his wages until he walks free out the door in the summer was an acceptable solution for Klopp.

It boggles the mind really and there's got to be more to this move than meets the eye. An injury to TAA and then we're into makeshift territory, so why let a decent and specialist left full back go when we have no other specialist to replace him. Even TAA while decent there isn't a specialist in that role. I hope that decision doesn't come back to haunt us.

The only other reason I could see Klopp doing a double deal with Bournemouth for Solanke and Clyne (because effectively Clyne if he does well for Bournemouth can sign on a free in the summer) is Ryan Fraser. Maybe Klopp wants first option in the summer?

Fabinho. Milner. Rafa Camacho is slap training with the first team.

He even mentioned Curtis Jones can play there.

Maybe getting cash in and freeing up two sets of wages for a January signing?

We won't replace clyne or solanke.

Because they haven't played at all this season. Or last season.
